Dumping ?

Have you considered the Duodenal Switch? It has the same small, fully-functional stomach as the Sleeve, plus an intestinal bypass similar to that of the RNY. Because the pylorus is preserved, the DS doesn't cause dumping.

The intestinal bypass of the DS is longer than the bypass of the RNY, and it causes us to permanently malabsorb a significant per centage of the calories we eat, especially calories from fats. Since we DSers only absorb about 20% of the fat we eat, most of us eat a LOT of it---real butter, well-marbled meats, heavy cream, full-fat cheeses, etc.

The DS has the very best long-term, maintained weight-loss stats, too, and a 98% cure rate for diabetes. It's the go-to surgery for high cholesterol, and has by far the most liberal post-op eating plan. Most DSers eat 3000+ calories every day.

MsBatt, please tell these nice folks that the adverse reaction some can have to fats is not at all the same as dumping.

Anybody who is "dumping" from one bite of sweets or too much water is just having a panic attack, not dumping.  Probably brought on by guilt.

I always trusted WebMD, but that post is not too accurate.

I haven't dumped, but I'm only 4.7 months out and haven't tested it. I will say that I don't limit fats per se, so I assume they don't bother me. bán chuột hamster ở hà nội

Can we please come up with a general term for all gastric food issues that could be triggered at all by the RNY?  Then rather than having to concentrate on defining what is dumping and what isn't, we can instead encourage people to see all of those things as tools to be used, not dreaded!

This could include dumping (sugars), eating too much, chewing improperly, new lactose related issues, and fat reaction issues.
