Awwww love that you are getting a rescue dog!  My brother has a rescue pit bull and a rescue mutt and my parents have two rescue dogs too...all sweet as can be.  That makes me happy :)  Great job on having over two miles done on the treadmill and you're west coast!!!  I have been caught up in work and haven't made it to the gym yet though I will go by 11 at the latest so i can do a call from the treadmill!  Enjoy your day and good luck getting your new companion!

You can take a call on the treadmill!? You're good, I would totally get distracted and fall down!

good morning ladies!  I have been in a stall for weeks.  It's discouraging!

I've been in a munchies rut too!  At night I get the munchies.  Last night I munched my way through a pint of blueberries.  I also had a couple cups of a fit smart pop corn with white cheddar.  I just see it as a slippery slope and it has me anxious. I began treating myself to a glass of wine instead ....

I think my artificial sweetener is causing the stall.  I never get above 800 calories a day but my carbs numbers have been sneaking up!   What are the carb numbers some of you aim for?

I'm home sick today, hopefully I can plan next weeks menu better.

Good morning!  Ugh, a stall for weeks would bother me to no end.  I am sorry to hear that!  I am a no carbs person - for me they are a slippery slope, so I keep it below 20 g five days a week and might go up to 30 accidentally twice a week.  I know many others stay under 40 or 80 or even more.

My NUT is very firm about no snacks...for the reasons you mention above (slippery slope).  If I feel like snacking at night I might have a pickle (if I want savory) or I do my calcium chew in caramel which seems like a sweet treat.  I know if I eat popcorn it will quickly spiral out of control ha ha.  Even though it's not as satisfying as a crunch, what about eating 2 oz of deli turkey when you get the munchies?  It will fill you up much better than popcorn or blueberries, or at least for me, the dense protein is the only thing that fills me.  Just an idea :)  And you are two months ahead of me.  So who knows what I will be munching on mid-July :)

Feel better, and know you're not alone!  A lot of people are sick right now.  Booooo

JLS, I'm only 8 weeks out, but my NUT told me a good carb goal is around 100. Now, I'm not willing to go anywhere near that high, but that's what she told me. Currently I try to keep it between 20-30 carbs for the day.

I will tell you that when I was discussing carbs recently with my 5-years post-RNY friend she said that she talked to her NUT about 5 months post-op about carbs and was also told around 100. She was super low carb at the time and the NUT said something like, "Your brain is not getting enough carbs to function, literally." I doubt this is literally true, but she went from something like 25 carbs a day to around 50 and definitely remembers feeling more energy.

So...food for thought.

Good Morning Everyone!

Emily, I feel you on the weight gain/scale issue.  For the last month, I have been in these 4 -5 day mini stalls where I either don't lose at all or even go up .5 lb sometimes, then for like 3 days I'll lose 1 - 1 1/2, then the stall starts again.  It's SO FRUSTRATING and seriously put a damper on my day.  I have gone through the whole, I'll only weight myself 1x week discussion, but I really want to force myself into using the scale as a tool, so that when I'm in maintenance I don't let things spiral out of control.  My fear is if I wait a week to weight myself, I can do serious damage in a weeks time (or at least I could pre-op).  Still, it's crazy how much that scale can change my mood in the morning :)  I feel your pain, hang in there the weight will start to drop off again in no time!

Time since surgery:  3 months 3 weeks

B - Last Chia Pudding

L - Premier Protein

S - 100 Cal Walnut Pack

D - Grilled Salmon w/ Veggies

I might try and have some unjury chicken soup as well, to try and get my protein numbers a little higher.

V - On track

W - On track

E - Zumba

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks, Dodgergirl!  I know...when I look at the big picture, the loss in month 5 is no biggie.  And i know exactly what I would tell someone else ("look how good you're doing" blah blah blah) so I am trying not to sweat it...it's just the first time the number has been up and I was like "Whaaaaa?"  I definitely had an intense workout (only an hour but high intensity) because I obviously need to reduce calories, increase protein, increase fluids, and workout more.  Those would be key to any weight loss, so I have to remain focused :)  Thanks for the encouragement though, and sorry to hear you are having a similar experience :(  At least your min-stalls are followed by loss?  I am thinking I should weigh 2-3 times per week and not more.  Maybe we both should.  Your diet is fantastic and you're active so it's gonna come off!  Words to live by :)

Have a great weekend!  Em

Hi everyone!

Emily - I was in your shoes a couple weeks ago, except the scale said up 2 lbs!! It made my heart stop beating for a few minutes I think.  :-)  I am happy to report that the 2 lbs have finally disappeared and now I am even below that.  It is just a bump in the road and it will go away soon!

The shrimp pouch recipe I use is from Eggface's blog.  Look up Greek Shrimp pouch.  It is so yummy!  I don't use the wine because I am not going to open a bottle of wine just for 1 teaspoon!  I used lemon juice instead. Her recipe is a little too big for me to eat right now, so I use less veggies. I have made a variation without the greek seasoning, replacing it Italian seasoning and basil.  I love capers so your lemon & caper shrimp pouch sounds super yummy!

Toady I was a little off of my normal routine, so my planning hasn't been very good.  I had a meeting at my son's school and a bunch of errands, so I decided to take the day off.  I have been running around all day long, but I feel like I have gotten nothing accomplished!

B: Premier Protein shake

L: steak tips portobella w/ broccoli (lean Cuisine)

D: carnival at the kids school tonight.  There will be food trucks there, but I plan on bringing a Quest Bar.

E:  going to Curves in a little bit

V: done, except for iron

W: done and I will have probably at least 20 more ounces tonight at the carnival
