Ya, I just did a quick google search, looks like here in Canada we can't get Miralax brand but a substitute called Restoralax, basically the same thing, different name. But as I was googling a lot of stuff came up about using Probiotics as well. I love probiotic yogurt so might jump on that, its a win win for us, protein in yogurt and probiotics for bowels, WIN!
Glad you didn't think I was nuts for tracking my bowel movements - LOL LOL. It just I need to keep track of it, just like I track my food, track my water, track my exercise, its all part of the journey for me.
Protein numbers are so good today cuz I had chicken twice and added tuna as a snack, you know that's not a normal day for me but I am trying to eat as dense a protein as I can to keep me full longer because the CARB CRAVING MONSTER is at my door and knocking to be let him and if I am full on good dense protein I am hoping to keep the carb monster at bay. You always do awesome with your protein numbers Em, you so got this girl!!
Good morning to everyone! I loved seeing yesterdays post, I love how everyone is so supportive to each other.
I completely understand the issues with constipation. My mom recently had her colon removed due to years of not going and self medicating with Exlax which just made her colon dependant on it and would no longer work on its own. I have had the same issues as her and not going sometimes for 7-10 days. My doctor told me to stay away from any stimulant type laxative and stick with Miralax. He said I can use as much Miralax as needed since it pulls water into the colon to move things along rather than stimulating it and making the colon reliant on the medication to work.
I love seeing all the talk on rescue dogs today. I have brother and sister beagle/basset hound mixed dogs I rescued a year ago. They have brought so much joy to our lives. We have always gotten our dogs from the local shelter or rescue and have had some of the most amazing dogs over the years.
I love working with my trainer also, not a hard workout last night. He just completed some additional schooling so he offered to give me a new assessment free of charge if I would forgo my regular session last night. He felt it was going to give a clearer idea of what I need most with my mobility issues from back surgery.

Hey jennifer! You are basically voicing my fears, so yeah, I am going to try Miralax. Hello amazon.com prime delivery!
So glad you like the post and so glad you contribute. We are supportive, not in a "sure, go ahead and eat 20 cookies, you will still lose" kind of way but in a "we're here to motivate and inspire you" kind of way! I look forward to this thread, I learn a lot from this thread, and I stay accountable with this thread.
I was just telling my coworker about cauliflower hash browns. YUM. Do you ever use a bag of frozen cauliflower or always a head of fresh?
That's so great you have rescue dogs as well. Our best dog growing up was a rescue mutt. She's been gone about 15 years but I still sometimes get tears in my eyes when I think of her. She was amazing and no other dog will ever compare!
How exciting to meet your daughter's future in-laws! You will be seeing them at events forever more so I hope you like them!
I've only used fresh cauliflower, so I'm not sure how frozen would do.
The thought of future in-laws is tough for me, I always think of my kids as babies, not grown-ups. I have no doubt I will like them, they have welcomed my daughter and granddaughter into their family so openly that I know they are wonderful people.

Good Morning Everyone,
Not a lot of time to post this morning, but since being backed up led me to the hospital one night (due to the pain and it being multiple days in a row) I feel like I've found the best solution (for me at least). I swear by probiotics and have done a ton of research on them. You really want to take something that's in the refrigerated section (a local health foods store like Whole Foods or Sprouts will have them). You want at least 1 Billion live and active cultures (hence the refrigeration). In reading about probiotics, I've also come across a number of articles about their benefit in general for WLS patients. Anther tip I have read is that in order to make them most beneficial you should switch them up. So for instance at the moment, I take 2UP Green probiotics, but when I run out, I'll switch to a different brand. I can say that for the last month and a half, I go every morning like clockwork, just like pre-surgery. If I skip my probiotics (I take 2 each night before bed) then I will get constipated again the next day. I honestly worry about my upcoming trip just out of fear of being w/o the probiotics, they've helped me that much. I had literally tried EVERYTHING before I found this solution, so I hope that it works for others. Good luck!
