Whole Foods, but check the Saffron Road website. There's a store locator, hopefully you can find them near you.

Good morning, folks!

Emily, so glad your scale was in a cooperative mood today. I managed to lose a pound yesterday, and I won't get on the scale again until next Sunday, so here's hoping I see another loss then. In the meantime I've had a carby/calorie heavy couple of days, so it's back to basics for me today. That cauliflower crust pizza sounds excellent, I'll definitely have to give it a try! The husbeast ordered pizza last night, which was hard for me. Luckily he gets his pizza slathered in jalapenos, so it's not as tempting as it could be.

On today's schedule: job hunting! I spoke to a couple of people this weekend about being references for me, since my work references are so out of date, and today I plan on doing some research and legwork to see what I can turn up. At this point I'll be happy to take any kind of non-retail job, just to get back in the workforce. I'm so bored sitting at home, and I'd like the second income, even if it gets totally spent on home improvement type stuff.

For today, it's a strength training day at the gym, plus I'll get on my own treadmill later today for half an hour or so. I'm working on this morning's vitamins now, and water is usually fine at 80-100 ounces. Menu for today:

I'll probably throw another snack in there later in the evening, but for the moment I'm not sure what I'd have.

Hope everyone has a splendid day!

Hi Pam!  Try the cauliflower crust pizza for sure - you are such a chef, I bet you will make a delicious crust!  For the record, I would love pizza slathered in jalapeños lol.

My reco re: job-hunting...LinkedIn.  It is the #1 place for finding jobs and for people finding you.  And people can write recommendations on there for you.  My profile is totally up to date and I get hit up by recruiters and headhunters all the time.  Also, for searching, use indeed.com  - it's an aggregator, so it shows all job postings from newspapers, other sites, etc.  You can search a broad title and then narrow it down on the next screen for location/pay/etc.

Your menu looks awesome...why does everyone have better protein numbers than me?!  I am envious.  I have to improve.  I know, I know...I say that all the time!

Hope your day is awesome.  Strength-training and treadmill...you will see a loss next Sunday for sure.  I am impressed you can stay off the scale for a week!  I sometimes wonder if I haven't changed from one obsession to another lol.  Therapy, here I come...eventually :)

My protein only looks better today because I worked at figuring it out, LOL! Go look at my last three days on MFP, they were terrible! Carby and high calorie. And quite honestly, your protein numbers are always so good, I'm usually trying to keep up with you!

Pam, I'm glad you're back and hopefully feeling much better! As Emily said, yum! Your menu looks great. I didn't eat much red meat pre-op, but lately I've been craving something like a steak - which I know I'll be able to try sometime soon(ish) but I'm still leery, do you remember when you introduced it?

I"ll second LinkedIn!

Hi Anny! Thanks for the welcome back, it's good to chat with everyone again.

I'll admit to being a bad, bad girl re: red meat. My surgeon's plan was that beef and pork were verboten until six months out. I only just hit my five month mark yesterday, but I've been eating beef and pork now for three months. I spoke to my nutritionist first about why the prohibition, and she explained that it was mostly because most people didn't tolerate them well until six or more months from surgery, and also that they were generally higher in calories than fish and poultry due to the fat content. Well, I decided to see if I could tolerate it sooner and fit in the calories because I was having (and still have) real problems with chicken and turkey. Unless it's deli lunchmeat style or something that's in a lot of liquid I just can't eat poultry. That may improve, but for now it's off the table, so I tried the beef. And it was good. A nice medium rare steak actually sits nicely in my pouch, where roast chicken will come back up in a heartbeat.

If you want to try red meat, make sure you get a piece that's nicely marbled with fat, like a rib eye, and cook it no more than medium. Medium rare is perfect. Don't go with something leaner like a sirloin at first. Ground beef can work well in a chili or something else with a lot of liquid, like an Italian meat sauce over spaghetti squash, zucchini noodles or shirataki.

To anyone reading this, please note that I usually say to follow your surgeon's plan regarding eating, and generally I do. But this was a decision I made based on my situation, and not something I would recommend on a blanket basis.
