Hi OH Team,

Happy Tuesday.  Today is a better day - thanks for your nice words of encouragement yesterday :)  I am in an all day meeting but I am at work early and as usual, I have somewhat psychotically planned out my entire day's menu, so I can start the post.

Had a total NSV yesterday - I had a work dinner last night and there were 30+ people there including people from out of town who I haven't seen in a while.  I got a lot of compliments which was really nice.  I don't mind being the center of attention LOL.  My old VP said my new nickname is "sassy".  These Gwynnie Bee clothes are helping me step my game up - and they FIT.  That makes the biggest difference, if you ask me.

Time Since Surgery: 5.5 months

B: Syntrax matrix mint cookie shake made with 10 oz of unsweetened almond milk

L: It's being brought in from Roti (an Indian kind of Chipotle) - I can eat chicken :)

S: We have a contest at work today called "The Big Dipper" - most people are making cheesy and fatty dips but mine is a Mediterranean tuna salad made with albacore tuna, kalamata olives, feta cheese, diced red onion, parsley, Greek seasoning, olive oil and red wine vinegar.  I also am slicing English cucumbers as my "crackers".  I am excited to try it!

D: Turkey pepperoni on cauliflower crust pizza with about 2 tbsp of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese

E: Will do 30 minutes cardio and 30+ minutes training tonight after work.

W: Sipping water and coffee now

V: This is my reminder!

Totals for the day are about 850 calories, 85 g protein, 31 g carbs, 39 g fat

What's on your menu today?

A choir recital at an assisted living facility sounds adorable!  I have a friend who got a Master's of Social Work and works at an assisted living center outside of Boston and she LOVES the residents.  She says they are like high schoolers with drama over who has to sit with who at lunch and things like that :)  They are also super blunt with her - after she had her second kid they would make comments like, "You're looking good but still have fat to lose!" LOL.  Your menu sounds good - you know me and my mint cookie shake!  I love it!

Oh my word, yes...the drama is incredible!  My Mom's facility has assigned seating for all meals, but they still argue!  They are blunt....very blunt!!!  I used to work there as their assistant executive director, but between the drama with the staff and the residents; it drove me nuts!!!!  LOL!!!  Have a great day!!!

Good morning, good morning! I'm glad you're feeling better today, Em. It was a quiet day here on the Menu Post yesterday, perhaps it will be more lively today.

My fight with the scale continues - still no movement and no inches lost either. I know it's part of the process and I continue to work my program, but it is hard. Not sure why we all want it to go so quickly, it hasn't even been a week, but it's making me a bit crazy!

The office mate is off today, so I have a lovely quiet space all the myself today - yippe...

Time since surgery: 11 weeks today!

S: 16oz coffee with some half and half, Nectar Lemon Tea protein shake

TOTALS: Calories 751, Protein 96, Carbs 37, Fat 28

Anny try upping your calories a bit, I remember this happening to my and adding in some more food made the scale start moving again. Hope it helps

I have heard that Janessa. My problem right now if I'm not sure HOW to add in more calories most days.

If I follow my program I'm supposed to be eating 4oz, 3 times a day, protein forward of course. I've already added in a snack, that technically I'm not supposed to do. With most of my meals I'm around 150 calories and I'm having a hard time boosting it much higher and staying at the 4oz!

But I think I'll give it a try and boost calories to 800.

Are you using low fat stuff, like cottage cheese or the string cheese? Maybe try eating the whole fat stuff

That's a good point! I do use almost all reduced fat items. Doing full fat might be a good way to get some more calories. Thanks for your suggestion, Janessa, everyone's support here is sooooo invaluable!

Anny, I'm going to have to make that Green Chili Cheese Puff, it sounds yummy. And I hear you on the scale and inches...it's so hard to be patient, to trust the process. Like you, I know in my head that it will work if I stick with it, but *knowing* it deep down seems to be another thing. I blame having failed at weight loss about a million times before, and I have to keep reminding myself "This time, it's different. It's different!" It doesn't always help, but it's one more tool in the arsenal of mental tricks that sometimes does the trick.

I can't believe you're that far along on that shawl! You're a very fast knitter, especially compared to slowpoke me. Are you a picker or a thrower? I'm a modified thrower: I actually hold the yarn between my thumb and forefinger of my right hand and move my whole hand to place the yarn. I know, it makes me very slow, but I never had anyone teach me the "right" way, and now I think I'm stuck. I'm using this garter stitch scarf to try to break in a new habit and actually hold the yarn "correctly", but it's so hard to break such a long standing habit.

Hey, that's a great metaphor for our new lives, isn't it?
