Was/Is anyone here over 400 lbs?
I went from 475 to 185. Been steady for a year now.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
Started at 440. Down to 207-210. Been having some health issues (completely unrelated to my RNY) and haven't been able to hit the gym so I have been just relying on good eating habits for the last 2 months so haven't lost much. I actually put on a little weight from the meds I was taking. My surgery was November 19, 2012. I am 5'8 and was a 32 pants and 4x/5x top. Now I'm a 16 pants and L/XL top. Once I get back to the gym I'll be able shed the rest of the weight I want to lose. I've had 0 complications. There were really good days, really bad days and everything in between. If you want it bad enough and follow your plan and REALLY commit to living a healthy life you'll be successful regardless if you start at 250 or 450lbs.
Good luck to you on your journey!
I'm currently 560 pounds. When I first saw my surgeon, he told me I had to at least lose 50 pounds before he would do my RNY Surgery. I've heard of a lot of people 400 and over having a lot of success with the RNY. My wife just had her RNY just about 3 weeks ago but she was under 400. She's already lost 20 pounds since surgery. From what I've seen and heard, if you follow the rules and exercise, this surgery will work and you will keep the weight off. Don't lose hope and just focus on doing what you need to do. Stay away from some of the traps I've seen post op people fall into with the wrong foods and eating way to much food. If you are not seeing a bariatric dietician, I recommend that you find one.
I'm just over 2 months out (Surgery May 5th) and my highest weight was 455lbs. I'm now down to 344lbs. (110lbs gone already!) I feel like I'm back to being myself. I lost 25lbs in the year leading up to surgery another 34 on the optifast 4 weeks leading up to surgery and I've lost the next 50 since my surgery. It really was the best decision I made. I've done some walking post op but I just joined the gym and did an aquafit class and today I did an hour work out with a trainer to learn the circuit. It was good and I really feel like I'm doing awesome so far, especially with the firsts like going to the gym....
