How do you know when you are at goal?

Thank you!  I checked.  The 140s look normal to my eye but for my either the 120s looked kind of emaciated (i.e. rib cages showing).

Notably NONE of the women in my age group in the 120-140s have back fat.  This helped so much.

Thank you!

Just remember the people on that site were never MO and lost all sorts of weight.  You could still have love handles at 128lbs, they will be all skin but you probably won't like that either.  Weight is a touchy matter as we age, I like to be thin but being too thin makes me look old and the wrinkles more apparent.  So I have to keep myself around my goal weight, even ten pounds is noticeable on my face, I get a very gaunt look around my eyes.

Ok.  Will keep this in mind.

Went to the mall and The Limited had inventory on 50% off.  I got a skirt and a pair of trousers in a size 8!

I really like how thin, yet STRONG I am.  I am comparing this size 8 (at 160) to the size 8 (at 142) I was in my 20s where I lived off of an industrial sized can of green beans, an apple, coffee and beer (only twice a week after running).

This time around, despite being heavier, I can wear the same size and feel stonger and have more endurance. I think i am a lot healthier this time around (I actually take vitamins and eat meat and veg!).

I like the way I look this time around!

Wow...that was a really useful website!  Thanks for sharing it.  Body image is a really difficult issue and it was really helpful to see other people with my stats....

I agree.  I look at it every so often to see what I looked like at my heaviest, where I am now and where I hope to be.  If I look at my own body and photos, I don't have the same objective reaction.  It's an amazing site.

Here's what the literature I was given says for being at optimum goal range in terms of BMI:   18.5 - 24.9    This website has a BMI calculator if someone wants to know their BMI.

A few weeks of not losing weight doesn't mean you are done. I had a 3 1/2 week stall and that was right after surgery... when you'd think I'd be losing fast. Your body will figure it out, don't worry.

It also depends on how you are built too. If you look at me from the waist up - I am too thin. You can see all of my ribs and it isn't attractive. My weight is in my butt/thighs..... I wish I could redistribute my weight lol.

Your goal should be fun, healthy, comfortable and easy to maintain. That's just my 2 cents. I was 142 for literally a day. It was my lowest never to be seen again. Perhaps a scale anomaly. Now I bounce around 148. I am cool with it at 5'8 -- I would like to lose some more, but I had plastics and have been away from the gym. I am almost cleared for everything. My goal is to maintain through the holidays and try to focus on 10 more pounds in 2015 with my husband.

Your body will find its own goal.  My original goal was 180.  I looked nice at 180 and felt good.  Then I kept losing until I hit the 140's, although I wasn't trying to.  I looked and felt like a famine victim in the 140's.

Now I am in the 150's and feel OK. So I guess that was my body's goal.  I don't argue, I just eat when it tells me to and stop when it tells me to stop... and that seems to work.

I was 5'7" before surgery by the way, 5'6" now (I lost an inch in there somewhere).
