I believe in following your surgeon's advice BUT remember they are not dietitians or nutritionists (and even some of those are not familiar with post WLS requirements) so I might take the ASMBS guidelines with to your next appointment and ask some why questions. Plain Greek Yogurt is an excellent source of protein (add your own flavorings, fruit, seasonings) and I don't know of many bariatric programs that doesn't allow it. So following a plan is great but when it's kind of umm odd ask why.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!  This is exactly the type of information I was looking for.  I am sorry to say I do not like the Nutritionist at my surgeon's office at all, any question I have had she does not seem to be able to answer. She has a handout and anything beyond that seems to stump her.  I did ask her about plain greek yogurt and she said no.

Greek yoghurt is great!  High protein, lowfat, excellent for sweet or savory.  Also, use it plain like sour cream for topping on chili or other spicy foods.
