Vitamins 5 yrs post op
Hello, I am currently taking a prenatal plus multi vitamin (ingrediants listed below), sublingual B12, B complex, and vitamin C. I go to get my blood work done in the next few months... I am having trouble with feeling sluggish, lack of energy and need to restock my vitamin D3 supply. any suggestions on vitamins to add to my list/ specific brands, etc. thanks!
Vitamin A (from Acetate and Beta Carotene) | 4000 I.U. |
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) | 120 mg |
Vitamin D-3 (Cholecalciferol) | 400 I.U. |
Vitamin E (dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) | 22 mg |
Vitamin B-1 (from Thiamine Mononitrate) | 1.84 mg |
Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin) | 3 mg |
Niacin (as Niacinamide) | 20 mg |
Vitamin B-6 (from Pyridoxine HCl) | 10 mg |
Folic Acid | 1 mg |
Vitamin B-12 (Cyanocobalamin) | 12 mcg |
MINERALS: | |
Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate) | 200 mg |
Iron (from Ferrous Fumarate) | 27 mg |
Zinc (from Zinc Oxide) | 25 mg |
Copper (from Cupric Oxide) | 2 mg |
You're not taking any calcium citrate?
The lack of energy may be due to iron deficiency. You aren't taking any additional iron?
I would make sure you get your vitamin A level tested, since that has a low amount of vitamin A. And your selenium level since that has no selenium.
Do you just take one a day?

My iron was good the first six years and then got low. I am now on Ferrous Gloconate 38mg twice a day.
You really need to get blood work and then work with your doctor to see what you need to adjust. I get labs done yearly. Last summer I felt very sluggish and run down and found out I was very dehydrated. Too much time working out in the yard in the hot sun without drinking enough water.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
My vitamin routine looks like this 5 1/2 years out:
Centrum multivitamin - 2 per day
B12 sublingual 1000 mcg. daily
B1 100 mg daily
Calcium citrate w/ Vitamin D 3 daily (or 6 petites)
I also take a fish oil capsule, a probiotic, and a cranberry tablet (because I am prone to UTI's). No iron needed because I am post menopausal but I have taken it intermittently when I felt low energy.
