Diarrhea 6 days in a row

Hi All,

I've had diarrhea since Saturday.  Initially I thought it was some sort of bug, but am starting to really get annoyed/worried being that I am still going 6 days later.  My diet has been fairly consistent since I moved to the current soft/adaptive stage.  Here is an example what I eat normally:

Breakfast-  Quaker Protein Oatmeal with half cup of skim milk.  G2 gatoraide (PCP said it will help with dizziness I occasionally get)

Lunch-  2 oz of low fat deli meat (turkey, ham, etc..) and 1 oz of cheese (generally low fat swiss or colby jack).  1/3 cup of canned fruit like peaches in their own juices

Post lunch snack-  7  slices (half serving) of turkey peperoni and 1 sargento low fat swiss string cheese.

Dinner- 2-3 oz of chicken, fish, some sort of protein. My surgeon isn't allowing salad yet, so if still a little hungry I have unsweeted apple sauce.

Post dinner snack-  Greek Yogurt

I haven't had issues with diarrhea until this past week.  Now, I am going 6,7, even 8 or more times a day.  It sometimes has a consistency, sometimes it comes out as green fluid.  I'm doing my best to keep my fluids up.  I guess the bright side is I've lost 7 lbs since Friday.

I visited my PCP on Monday, and he wanted me to ride it out a few days more, thinking it is a nasty bug going around.  If still having issues provide a stool sample for analysis (which I provided yesterday).  It could take a week to get back the results (UGH!).  The weight loss surgical team mirrors his thoughts and they want me to be patient and ride it out as well.  But, I've never had diarrhea this long before, and am at a loss at what I can do to make sure I am ok.  I do trust my doctors, but I'm afraid I'm going to get really dehydrated (already getting dizzy) if this continues much longer.

I'm hoping you may be able to help.  I really enjoy reading the posts, as this forum is very knowledgable and fair.

Thanks again for your time.

Paul

Paul,

That does sound like a bug.

I know the team wants you to ride it out, I personally take Imodium.  I also take four doses of Citicel Fiber every day. Two in the morning and two at night.

Do you take actigall or the genetic of that medicine? I suffered from diarrhea after a few days of taking it.  Turned out to be a side effect.  As soon as I cut down on that, the diarrhea stopped right away.  Just a thought.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yep, I take it. Surgeon mentioned that it may be the cause.  Wants me to keep on it for a bit longer to rule out if it is a bug.  Hope it goes away one way or another...
