2 months post op trouble with solids

My surgery was 2 months ago. My doctor has told me to start eating norMal foods again. I get sick when I eat meat. I cut it very small, chew well and eat slow. Yogurt, sugar free pudding and a very tiny amount of chili are the only foods that don't make me feel sick. Is this normal at 2 months post op?

I started meat at four months out.  At first I could only eat beef filet, cooked rare and cut into very tiny pieces.  By six months I could usually handle chicken or pork.  After a year I could eat hamburger.  At two months I was not able to handle meat.

Could you give me some ideas of foods that are easier to tolerate at 2 months? Besides yogurt, cheese, eggs and chili.

what kinds of symptoms do you have?  just trying to understand what you mean by feeling sick so we can maybe help better.

can you eat cheese?  or deli meat?

I actually vomit after eating 3-4 small bites of most solid foods. If I don't vomit it feels like I need to.

I'm able to eat cheese. Some foods that I used to enjoy I no longer do...even the thought of some foods make me disgusted.

I think it will get better.  I am 7 weeks out, and although I can eat meats, some do not sit well with me.  For example, chicken breast is really hard for me.  But it is easier than it used to be.  My doctor said that if I don't tolerate something at first, to try again 2 weeks later.

Have you tried fish?  I am 7 weeks out.  I still have trouble with some meats, but I do pretty well with tender, moist fish.  Salmon, for example.  You could try poaching it for extra tenderness and moisture.

I did try haddock. My taste has changed so much. I used to love fish. Now I have no desire to eat it and when I tried I was disgusted by the taste and smell.

That is normal (i.e. tastes changing). For example, pre-surgery I loved the sugar-iest of sugary. Now, I dont like sweet at all and sometimes even over-ripe pineapple is bordering on too sweet.

And you know what, I still get aversion to foods I love WHILE eating them. It is bizarro. i am happily eating something tasty and all of a sudden I look down and my brain says "Enough!" (like a voice in my head) and I feel aversion in my heart (like when a good friend who has a mild dispositiion decides to have a swearing tantrum). One just wants to look anywhere else and acknowledge everything else other than that plate of uneaten food.

I NEVER felt that way before surgery. Maybe this is what normal weighted people call satiation?  I dont know.  But in 6 hours, my fave food becomes my fave food again.

PS. I love haddock. i have a great dill haddock recipe I got from whole foods that I could share with you!

I think that is normal for 2 months. It is a transition that takes awhile. my best advice (from experience) Is chew well, and make sure everything is moist. The crockpot can be your friend right now. I found chicken the hardest. They recommended chicken thighs over breasts because they are moister. I found fish and shrimp easier early on. It is a process, it takes time. Listen to your full signals too. It could be burping, hiccups, a runny nose... you may not feel that normal full feeling. At 2 months I could only eat like 2oz meat. It gets easier after 3 months and it wasn't until after 5 months that I felt things were more normal.
