What's On Your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
It snowed last night and now its this nasty sleety, freezing rain crap! YUCK! My daughter has no school today, I wish I got snow days! sigh
We buy in bulk for things like toilet paper, paper towels etc, and since we have 6 people in the house, it works out well for us ![]()
Today is my Hubby's 50th birthday, he is FREAKING OUT!!! For some reason 50 is really bothering him....I am only 33, but he clearly knew I was much younger when he married me....so suck it up buttercup. The "alternative" to growing old isn't great...so whatever! lol

M1: 1c Fairlife skim milk, 1 scoop Syntrax milk chocolate
M2: Dannon L&F Greek yogurt, 15g slivered almonds, 1 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
M3: 3oz canned tuna, 1 tbsp light mayo, spices, cucumber slices
M4: Celery sticks w/ 2 laughing cow light swiss wedges
M5: 2.5oz of 85% ground beef, romaine, reduced sugar ketchup, 1 tbsp light mayo (I normally get 93% lean ground, trying to see if the little bit higher fat will help it go down easier)
M6: 1oz curd cheese (if I need it, I counted it though)
Totals: Cals: 952 Protein: 98 Carbs: 37 Fat: 45
I've switched to 80/20. I know it's higher calorie bit my pouch can't handle really lean beef. 85/15 would be okay too, with the mayo and ketchup. Are you eating a lettuce wrap? I think you may have just found my dinner for tomorrow. Sounds so good. With pickles too.
Also, I've gone to 85/15 ground turkey. The lean stuff is too rough for me.
If this helps meat go down easier for me, I will deal with the extra calories!! Yes, I will be having my burger wrapped in lettuce ;) I will probably add some pickles as well!
I can do leaner ground meats if they are in a sauce, but straight up...nope!
A couple of times shortly after surgery I tried 93/7 ground beef. I've eaten better sawdust. I always use 80/20 now.

He's 50 and forgot Valentine's Day? Unless he was locked away in a monastery until just recently, he's a very slow learner. Or much braver than I ever was.

HAHAHAHA Yeah he came home with flowers and a Valentine's day card last night. Which was nice and all, but really, couldnt he have done the same quick stop at the grocery store BEFORE Valentine's day??!?!
Good thing I love the old guy! HAHA
Tell your hubby happy birthday, and to relax and enjoy his 50s. I love being in the 50s. I call them my FU 50s, because I no longer care what people think about me. It is freeing. This has also been the decade of "rebirth" for me, from beating cancer to my miracle RNY. I love my 50s.

I think the problem is, both is parents died in their 50's and that just really really gets to him. But I always try and remind him that both his parent's were HEAVY smokers and they drank....a lot. Neither if which he does, and he eats healthy, and stays fit.
I am older than my mom was when she died. It was hard coming up to that age and then passing it.
