Wellbeing 4 years out
Good afternoon all.
I had the RNY in 2013, birth of my son 2014, pannis removal 2016 with no complications along the way, and maintain my weight. I have some issues maintaining iron and B vitamin levels, but the issue was always easily corrected.
My problem lies with my general wellbeing. Or lack of well being. To be honest, I have never felt this awful in my life: I am struggling with fatigue that I cannot manage, and frequent throat/sinus/cold/flu infections.
Can anybody relate?
Did you find a solution?
How do you cope?
TIA
I'm sorry you are having these issues. TBH, most of the time I feel great. Have you had your iron and vitamin B levels checked lately? Being low on either of those can make you feel like you describe. Also, you may need to look at your calories - do you need more? Do you need them to come from different foods? If I eat too many refined carbs, I usually end up feeling like crap. I can't help you on the immune system - you may need to see a specialist for tests.
I have not had my surgery yet, but I found that when I would struggle with fatique and frequent issues with my immune system my Vitamin D was low, and my electrolytes were quite messed up. Magnesium/potassium always played a big role with me and my immune system. I to think you should get your labs checked out, have them do a full spectrum just to make sure all is going ok. Never hurts to check :) I hope you start feeling better soon though.

Some of the struggle - low energy- can be due to protein, or vitamins- minerals deficiency.
Some - sinus - colds - can be due to some food/food additives allergies - then can cause too much mucus production- and recurring sinus infection. I developed allergies to dairy proteins and soy - and every time I have some cheese or anything with whey - my sinuses get stuck. Even a small serving of cheese can cause that. Soy - I itch terrible.
Get a very detailed lab work - and check the numbers yourself- sometimes just normal is not good enough for most of us. I was dealing with low energy and my doc told me my numbers are normal. Well....after I checked them myself- I had bunch if them just borderline normal - barely meeting the "normal". After I raised them (more supplements) to mid normal I started feeling more like myself. More energy. Happier.
Removing dairy and soy from my diet fixed my constantly running- or stuffed nose. That and allergy pills.
