Wow.
My hair loss started before the weight loss. Post chemotherapy but has been worse in the past 6 months. I have tried everything suggested by my dermatologist including prescription meds but couldn't tolerate the side effects. This was suggested to me by a coworker. My thinking is that it couldn't hurt so I invested $4.99 and gave it a try.
Bottom line, despite the lack of "scientific" evidence my hair is growing back. Not just a little. More hair than I have had in over 12 years. With how often people here post about hair loss thought I'd pass it on. I expected the "no scientific" crowd to chime in but had no ideal that the topic was going to be controversial.
BTW I don't own stock in any company that markets or distributes Castor oil products.
Just because two things happen at the same time, doesn't mean they're related.

98% of people who fall victim to fatal car accidents, have drank water in the 12 hours preceding it.
Water causes fatal car accidents.

hey, if i try to feed my partner margarine or soy products - he would leave me, or think I lost my f#$ing mind. Butter, bacon, sausage.. - that contribute to a great relationship. And eggs.

I'm blessed with insanely thick hair and, of course, had zero hair loss because the gods are cruel that way. I know many WLS patients are not so lucky and if this works for just one more person on the boards, it's a win! If it doesn't work for anyone else, at least a few people will have nice warm scalp massages.
I know the good folks who are expressing their frustrations over your post are doing so out of a mix of genuine caring and deep seated frustration with seeing non evidence based medical advice spread about the forums that in theory could cause harm. I think that they get overly aggressive because they believe that by coming down hard they can stamp out misinformation and hopefully teach you a lesson in not fact checking before posting. That said, offering your opinion based on your own experience is totally acceptable to me.
Please don't let this smack down cause you to withdraw or stop posting - we need multiple voices here to make this a thriving community.

How on earth is simply saying "there is no evidence for this" considered "overly aggressive?"

I know your intentions are great! Good intentions, one post, no biggie. But sometimes one post by one well intended person, causes a little mob of "lets all go and laugh at this poor fool that would dare post such hog-wash on our boards"... Then the unsuspecting poster, trying to defend themselves (a basic human response), causes a response akin to blood in the water near swarming sharks and "IT's ON!!!".
I'm absolutely confident that you've never gone after anyone you don't believe has asked for it. And I'm also confident you're truly motivated to do the right thing by all the readers here on OH. In my own opinion, no one person is generally at fault in these mass pile-ons, but the impact is a definite show of force and suppression in outside thoughts and experiences. I find these mass pile-ons troubling EVEN AS I AGREE with much of what you've posted.
In my opinion, clearly worth very little on the boards but still offered as I'm a jerk like that, you are likely factually correct here but cause more harm than help when the group attacks, belittles, humiliates and generally bullies those we should be helping. Tough love feels GREAT but there is very little science that it actually works very effectively compared to positive engagement. Don't believe me? Check out anything on behavioral modification through negative reinforcement.
