Happy Fri-YAY! Hope everyone had an awesome week :)

Update from yesterday's QOTD: Jen and I made it into the newsletter yesterday! Yesssss. Lol!

Today I am heading over to see my mom after I make a cookie delivery out her way. I shouldn't stay too long because Fridays are when each new week's curriculum drops, so it's time for a new week of school! That's what I will be up to all weekend. I think the weather will be nice, so hopefully I can do some of the reading and paper writing from the hammock :)

My cookie pic for the week are of my first corporate order! A VP from Starbucks reached out and wanted cookies for a big meeting she is hosting. These were fun to make but yikes, it was a ton of work to take on during my first week of school. She is picking them up on Sunday morning!

The rest of my pics are a random sampling of beautiful Maine :)

QOTD: Do you read any magazines? I no longer get any physically delivered but I get digital versions of Real Simple, Martha Stewart and Harvard Business Review on my iPad.

Accountability? What's that? I was a freaking bottomless PIT yesterday. SO much snacking. Ugh.

B: Fit Frappe Protein in hot coffee & egg whites with ham and feta

L: At mom's... tbd

S: Chocolate Hummus

D: Cheeseburger (no bun)

Exercise: Probably a walk in my mom's neighborhood. Lots of hills!

Good morning QJB and menuers,

So many things! Congrats on a week of school, your first corporate order and those amazing-looking cookies! And mmm, lobster roll. Nothing beats fresh seafood.

QOTD - Nope. I got free Better Homes and Gardens for a while because of some furniture I bought but my last magazine days were as an early teenager.

Today is a busy office day full of planning meetings for next year, so I'm close to heading out the door. Just got to get straightened out. I had a sore throat and headache for most of yesterday, so had been worried about that going into a strategy day. Fortunately, it's improved this morning and I tested negative for covid with a home test.

My clinic called yesterday with the results of my six week blood tests. I'm low on A, B1, K, and protein. I guess it's surprising things can drop that fast when on Supplementation. Except for the protein, since I was already a bit low during my pre-op, even when I was already getting 80g a day. I wonder if some of it is due to the clinic pushing such a low-fat diet. They don't even want me eating the healthy fats. Either way, my supplement list is getting longer for a while. I was also directed to eat more dark, leafy vegetables. On it!

Exercise is done for today. I kicked up the resistance a bit more to push harder. It went well.

Today's menu:

Kick-off Planted protein shake

Breakfast- Greek yogurt

Lunch - Spinach and turkey slice

Snack - Roasted seaweed

Dinner - Baked tilapia with parmesan and mustard, steamed green beans

Pictures are of a distillery I visited in Scotland a few years back and of the Robin Hood tree in England.

I've malabsorbed protein since the beginning (hence I still drink a daily protein shake at over seven years out!). I'm supposed to shoot for 100 grams a day - and I usually go over that.

I like at least 100 grams of protein each day so I do incorporate a protein drink daily also. Easiest way to increase your protein intake without a bunch of added calories.

Good to know, thanks! I've been aiming for 90 the past few data. I'll aim to top out higher than that. Protein is a bad thing to be low on!

G'morning all!

Missed you guys yesterday.

Oh wow, QJB, those sbux cookies are flawless. I would buy them if I were at a starbucks store and saw them on the counter. So very cute!

Yesterday I got pulled into an all hands meeting all day loooong! Mamma mia, I complain about the heat on the coast but in Silicon Valley it was pure heck!!! Food wise I did as best as I could. They brought in croissants, bagels, and cream cheese for breakfast; I kept telling myself the person putting those bagels on the tray had not washed their hands after going potty. So I stuck to my coffee. They let us out for lunch and I ran to the closest grocery store to get hb eggs and yogurt (I found pumpkin yogurt that I usually don't find in my neck of the wood). For mid afternoon snack there were so many cookies that I thought I was gonna have a nervous breakdown trying to stay away from them. I did succeed, sort of. On my way back home I stopped at a TJ and got a bag of plantain chips (my obsession since Costa Rica) and proceeded to have half of the bag as my dinner.

QOTD: vogue magazine...I know, very shallow of me but I love ogling all the pretty bags, shoes, and clothes I would never buy.

My meals yesterday :

  • Coffee
  • 3 hb eggs + L&F pumpkin yogurt
  • 1/2 bag of plantain chips
  • E: nope

Happy Fri-yay.

I love your hand washing fail motivation; I may have to try that and also, I think it's got a good chance of being true; I will never get over people complaining how long it took to wash their hands correctly when the pandemic started. I insist that I'm never going back to handshaking or potlucks after that! To be fair, I gave up potlucks a long time ago.

Yup, potluck is a hard one. I keep hoping that friends and family do wash their hands.

And keep their pets out of the food; monitor expiration dates, put the cold things where they belong vs the counter, etc etc etc. i mean some of that also applies at restaurants too but at least they occasionally get checked!
