What's on your Saturday menu?

Good mornin everyone.

Boy was yesterday long and annoying. The tree is up though and even though the base is broken(it used to be a rotating stand) it looks ok. We have decided to downsize next year to a 4 foot tree. This is just too much for us. We would've done it this year if we had some extra cash for it...so we'll look at after Christmas sales for a new tree.

It a lot planned for today. We may run to the post office but I'm betting w wait until Monday. We need a rest day to be honest.

QOTD: thanksgiving or Christmas?

I prefer Christmas because it's a more laid back celebration for us. The food isn't as picky or hard. I like that there is no where to go and we can really just relax. This year we are going to do lasagna. If there is no surgery before I'll make it if there is we will buy it. Will also probably do an easy Alfredo if I do have surgery otherwise I'll make that too.

B: JUST egg bowl and coffee

L: hamburger soup

D: hamburger stew

S: ???

Mel, is the potential surgery the pain pump installation? You had mentioned it might be early next year so that would be great if they can move it up.

It is, I see my neurosurgeon on the 28th. I am hopeful for a surgery before Christmas but not super hopeful. It all depends on when he can fit me in. After surgery I have to wait two weeks before they fill the pump.

Mornin' Weekenders!

Nothing on the agenda for today, and it's cold outside. Perfect day for reading and/or getting caught up with classes!

QOTD: At one time it was Thanksgiving, but now that we no longer give gifts and I don't have to deal with gift-buying stress, I like them about the same. Although there's more cooking involved with Thanksgiving (at Christmas I just make a lasagna and others bring a salad and bread), but I don't really mind cooking that much as long as I have the time.

B: protein oatmeal topped with diced, cooked apples and a few blueberries. Coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: salad with pulled chicken and light dressing

AS: I'm planning on making more protein muffins today, so that if they're ready. Otherwise, probably yogurt and a skinny bagel (with light cream cheese)

D: at the moment I'm thinking 1/2 an Impossible Burger on 1/2 a slim bun and some kind of vegetables.

The only reason thanksgiving giving isn't the winner is that I'm the main cook. My family has to have traditional stuff and I'd rather do something different. They have to have the canned cranberry jelly and I'm going to make my own. I like orange in mine. I might just do candied cranberries.

my mother always likes to make cranberry/orange relish. I make a cranberry/cherry sauce that in my opinion blows her cranberry relish out of the water, but I let her do her thing. She hates cooking, but she always volunteers to make that - so I just let her...

Lasagna for Xmas is so much more popular than I ever gave it credit for!

Also, yum! Protein muffins!

Christmas trees are so expensive. Good idea to wait post-Christmas for a sale. Several years ago our prelim tree lights started going out. It was a pain to find the burnt out light plus that didn't always resolve the problem so we would have areas of the tree unlit. Now we string lights on it. We always talk about buying a new tree at the end of the season but then just don't.

hope your day is restful.

Hello on a Saturday

i am super bummed about my weight as it was up 3.2 lbs. this morning. I was like WTF since I have been super focused on my eating and working out everyday. Could it been water retention, I suppose but I was up 3 lbs before vacation. The No Excuse November was suppose to help me get that off. Ugh! I will continue on the eating and exercise as it has been since beginning of November and see what happens. I will admit I was almost like F-it I will eat what I want today (Saturday has traditionally been my up calorie day) but that is an old habit from my fat days.

Today I will go to the 90-minute yoga class. I have some returns to do. I was going to shop for Thanksgiving but DH is feeling guilty about not going to MT since his mom was disappointed we weren't coming. So I will revisit that situation before spending the money on food.

QOTD: it is hard to decide. It use to be Thanksgiving since people just get together to be together. Once we had kids that changed. If I was required to work one of those holidays though it would be Thanksgiving.

Accountability: excellent

the usual meals but might opt for popcorn for eve snack.
E: 90 min hot hatha.

have a great day.
