Way to go Bridget!!! I also had my marathon in mind when before I got my RNY. It gave me something to shoot for. I gave myself a year to lose, then started the training. You can DO IT!!! Hugs, ~Lara lap RNY 4-1-04 400+/190 @goal (6'3" tall)

Good for you!!!! (www).nike.com - has a GREAT running section that can even help you train. Although, I find that joining a running club at my local grass roots running store has made a HUGE difference for me in my training. Now my life is planned around getting to run, not runs planned around having to squeeze in a run - partially because I paid for a class, and partially because its just SO DARN NICE to run in a group of people who are supportive and encouraging. This weekend we're doing 4.5 miles - I've never run that far - so here's hoping that it goes well. Wishing you the best, ~Lara (www).twincitiesmarathon.org - I'm running the 10 mile race. Hi!! I just happened to see you request for posts in the April 2004. I'm thrilled for you and your running. I couldn't get my last 20 lbs off so I started training for a 1/2 marathon. I trained from Oct. - April and ran the whole darn 13.1 miles on April 2 in honor of my one year suriversary!! You can do it - I never ran (heck, I hardly ever walked) a mile in my life before this. It is total mind over matter once you get your cardio endurance over about 5 miles. I promise you. If I can do it, you can do it. I'm not training for another run now. But I still run just b/c I like it - bizarre!! Who would have thought that? My big fitness goal right now is to do 50 push ups. The real ones - military style - not the whimpy girl ones. 50 push ups by Dec. 31. Today I did 1. Yes, that's it but I'll make it and so will you. 10 miles for you. 50 push ups for me.
