Topic: RE: June Card Swap
Trisha, We should get a total of everyone who wants to participate have a deadline to sign up. Then tell everyone how many cards to make. That way everyone will get a card from all the participants. Does that make sense? I don't mean to shine on your parade, but that is how I have always done swaps. So just let me know what you think? Also there usually are set up rules...now this may be different for each person. And I love to collect cards from all types...But the rules usually state that there has to be either layers on the cards, or embellishments,...if you want to do quick cards (those are just cards with a stamp on them and they are colored...no embellishments..no layers...etc...) it nees to be stated too! Sorry I am an old timer w/card making...SO I just need to know the plans! Are we then mailing the cards to you? And you will mail us out our groupings? Thanks so much! xoxoxojenn

hmmmm 8x10 is an odd size... Shouldn't we start off with a smaller size first? Just curious. I mean....I am all about doing a page swap...but the sizes I have already done is 12x12, 8 1/2 x 11, 6x6...... Are there albums out there at sized 8x10? xoxoxojenn

Topic: Digital? 35mm? Polaroid?
So what kind of camera do you all have? I just got my own digital camera right before surgery. Before that I had been using my one from work on weekends and such when I needed to take pics. (Boss said I could, I was company photographer and events person, so it was no biggy.) However, I finally paid out the money to get my own digital camera. I love it!! Before that I was using 35 mm but having pics online from Costco so I can e-mail them to people or I'd scan them (I have a scanner). But having a digital camera is so much easier. I also have an HP photo printer and photo paper as well so printing is a snap. You can find some great deals on digital cameras at Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon.com. I got mine at walmart. It's a Sony 5 pixel. Hugs, Trisha -56 lbs

Topic: RE: My WLS scrapbook
I plan to sign a medical record release form this next week at my hospital and have them mail me a copy of my medical records, including labs, meals, etc. and putting those in my scrapbook. Too bad they dont' have the IV bags or stuff like that to send me. But saving stuff while you are in hospital is a GREAT idea!!!!!

Yep, my WLS will be a 12x12 since I plan to put 8x10 documents in there (approval letter, surgery date confirmation, hospital "bill", etc.) So much stuff. Yay!! You are a newbie!! Congrats on your surgery! Shrimp goes down so easy - make sure it's moist and if you like ****tail sauce use it - the wetter the better they all say. Also, even if your protein shake has 55 grams for one serving, your body can only absorb 30 of those grams per hour. I learned that last month - about a month out after my surgery. I've learned so much post-op. Like chewable calcium citrate is better absorbed in us than calcium carbonate (Viactive, etc.), and it's best taken on an empty stomach because it's better absorbed. Also that we only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time, so when taking your calcium citrate, break it up throughout the day like at work - so your body can get it in and absorb it. I buy the Hi-Health brand chewable calcium citrate and it's great. My multi-vitamin is Centrum Complete Chewable (adult) and it's orange flavored. Yummy! I take one in the morning with breakfast and one at night with a snack. I also take a sublingual B12. I learned post-op how important B12 is for us. Sublingual (the kind that goes under your tongue) is best absorbed in post-ops. I'm amazed at how small I eat now days too - family is as well, so are friends. I was such a huge eater pre-op. My gosh -now looking back I think -how'd I do that. Did I gross people out? I get grossed out now watching an overweight person overeat. Ugh!! Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress! Glad you are here! Hugs, Trisha -56 lbs

I've never heard of page/card swaps and am very interested in that!! We can do a card one first for us card/stamping folks and then the next month or so do a scrapbook or recipe page swap. That'd be fun!! July will be here before you know it!! Hang in there! Glad everything got smoothed out with your insurance company. My RNY and everything cost $31,000+ so insurance is GREAT!!!! I only had to pay my hospital co-pay of $150. Can you call your surgeon's office and talk to the surgeon's scheduler, tell her about coverage date and see if she can schedule you NOW for 7/1??? Don't wait too long - you might have to wait longer! My surgery was a month after it was scheduled. So scheduling it now might be in your best interest. Worth a shot! Hugs, Trisha -56 lbs
