Me too--would love to get this board going as well. I've been a singer for 15 years doing regional & community theater. My voice has always been a strong Alto. I noticed recently I can't sustain notes as long as I use to. I'm hoping with the WLS it will help.

Hello Christina: People who have never had the problem of obesity can fully understand what we go through and how devestating it can be to get in front of people, let alone to speak or sing. I not only had the problem of obesity but I have an extremely wide vocal range, And when I was young was made fun of because my voice is so high. I am a 47 year old male, Happily Married to a wonderful woman and I still have people who say "Yes Mam to me on the phone. THen the issues of weight came in and for a long time I would not sing in front of people because of my voice and my size. I came to the point when I realized that I couldn't let what people said or what they thought about me deture me. I love singing and those of us that can sing realize that it is a gift from God. I have learned to like my voice the way it is because it is what God blessed me with, and most of us here have gone through or are going through some form of WLS surgery which is a step in the right direction. If singing is your life then I would say to you don't stop. When people heard me sing they began to look at the talent that was given instead of my size.... Whether we lose this weight or not we will still be the same person and we have to start doing what we feel right for ourselves and not what others think or say. Start singing again practice everyday, believe in the abilities you have and try not to let what others say deture you from doing what is in your heart. You can do it.

OH HONEY! HOW I AM CRYING NOW CAUSE I FEEL FOR YOU. SINGING HAS BEEN MY LOVE ALL MY LIFE. I WON AWARDS AND COMPETITIONS. I HELP LEAD THE SINGING AT OUR CHURCH AND LET ME TELL YOU AT 305 AND 5 FT 1 IN. THAT WAS ROUGH. GOD GAVE ME MY VOICE TO USE IT FOR HIM.
