Hi Christina. I agree with what the others have written. Singing is a gift from God. I help lead the singing at church. I did it before my surgery, and I am back to doing it after my surgery. It is a lot easier after losing 60 lbs.! Put yourself in a position where you are singing with a group of people. Then when you feel the urging from within, step out and "do your thing." You will have no regrets for doing it....only regrets if you don't. God bless you...and your gift of music...always. Peg

I never let my weight keep me from singing. I have been singing since I was 4 years old. I recognize singing as a gift from God, and I love using that gift every chance I get. I hope my vocal quality improves with the surgery...I will be able to breathe correctly (hopefully)! Anyway, get back in there and sing. Best wishes from TY

Christina, singing is my life as well. It will always be with me whether I am on an official stage or not. It is a gift from God and no one can ever take it from me. I sing everyday while I am doing other things. It is true that once you stop singing in front of audiences for awhile, it is hard to get back up. But once you do, and you can by the way, it will come back naturally. Just do what you know you can do and try to forget about other people and their judgements. God gave you that gift for a reason, what you do with it is your gift back to Him. YOU GO GIRL!

i should really say was my life. i loved singing was even going to go to school for it but i lack the confidence especially with my weight i knew i'd have to sing with girls with years of training and who are thin. i have been overlooked so many times because of my weight i guess i gave up and havent sang for three years now. I dont mean to be corny but its like the deepest part of me, a longing something that makes me complete. im scared to go back to it but more scared not to. i should have never stopped!

Topic: RE: Improved vocal range
Hey this is a great post for me. I trained as a music major in college and was a contralto. In the past 10 years I have sang everything but as I no longer have the range that I once had. I have been blaming it on the hyatle hernia. I have already mentioned to my friends that I am hoping that having the wls surgery sometime in March will make a differnce and help me get my range back. I miss singing the solo's and sometimes get embarrassed because I just cannot hit the notes I once did. Because of that I have not sang in choirs or done much solo work lately. Maybe between loosing the weight and the exercise we can all get our voices back.
