How soon could you go back to teaching?
I had a lap done on july 3, 2003 and went back to teaching at the end of August. I teach high school, so I could sit more, but I was all right. The thing that got me was the heat! I was wiped out half way through the day since we have no air conditioning at our school. I'm 8 months out now and have no problems...except for those blasted candy bars the kids always seems to be selling. They call me by name!
I'm taking 3 weeks off (April 27th surgery-going back May 18th) then I'm getting married in Las Vegas on June 19th!
Everyone I've spoken to has said I should be fine, especially since I'm young (29). I just plan to be very strict with my diet, get my protein, drink lots of water, and sit down when I need to!!!
Take care
I teach full-day kindergarten to 31 kids in a catholic school. My surgery is this Monday 4/5. I have a two week easter recess and then I plan to go back (maybe can squeeze a few sick days if need be). There's too much coming up for me to be out for.
Hope I'm okay to get through it. I can sit for a while (use my aid more) but can't sit all day.
Good luck to us all!
Melissa
