I had my surgery 4 days after school was out, only 2 weeks ago. I'm feeling AWESOME!!! I get to start on stage two of my diet tomorrow and am looking forward to chewing again. I'm glad I chose to have my surgery over the summer so I can focus on my new lifestyle and family right now. But, if you choose to have this surgery during the school year, you'll be fine to go back to work in a week. I was ready to get up and about within that first week. I went to Super Walmart 3 days out. I would have gone at 2 days out, but I had a fever the day after my surgery and they kept me one extra day. I can't wait to walk into school in August and everyone see a healthier, thinner, and happier me. Good Luck to those of you having your surgery soon. I am a Special Education teacher also. I'm glad to see other special educators posting. I have been over weight all of my life. I completed my consultation on May 19th and had the gall bladder ultrasound on the 24th. If everything goes well, we are looking at a September date. I do hope to have the surgery during the Christmas break to lessen the days I may need to be off. Good luck to everyone.

I'm also a future teacher! I am student teaching this fall in a 1/2 classroom. I'm really excited!!! I passed my exam already, and I'll be graduating in December!! Yay!!!

I had my surgery on July 16th and was back to teaching September 3rd .. I was BETTER than I was when school ended in June ... I was able to be up and about and it was great!
