I Miss School :(

I just found this message board & I'm compelled to write. I am a secondary special ed. teacher that had WLS on 6/14/04 . Because of (many) complications I'm STILL not back to work. I really miss my students. I'm hoping to return in Nov. but I'm still not feeling all that well yet. I'm afraid that I won't feel well once I"m back. I need to work for my sanity's sake ( as well as to support my family). I feel better now that I've "put it out there"... Any other teachers out there ??? Love to hear from you... Marianne F.

Hi Marianne! I am a teacher also. My surgery was May 26, 2004. I was out for the rest of last year. But, was able to go back when school started. It was wonderful...everyone was so supportive and encouraging!! Even the kids. I did not have any complications...sorry to hear about yours. Hang in there. Hopefully, it will get better and be worth all the complications!! If you ever want to talk...just email me!! Jeannie

Have you tried online teaching? I do it at universalclass.com. You can choose your own subjects, write the class, tests and assignments and it's a nice little paycheck for 'in the meantime' until you get back to full-fledged work in the actual classroom. Sheryl

Hi Shelley Thanks for the reply...I have returned to my classroom since my last posting. (back in Dec.) I am doing well now. I have lost around 115 lbs. since my surgery back on June 14th. I walk each day & feel great. Getting back to work was the best thing for my recovery. I was so very weak upon my return, but the kids & the job helped/ forced me to get better. Of course my nurse & my surgeon helped as well. I wish you health & happiness...Marianne
