Hi, I am still waiting for approval. It has been 3 weeks. I am stir crazy.
Did anyone have bad heel spurs before WLS? If so, was wondering if the weight loss helped? Or if, anyone knows any magical thing that works. I have tried all the foot things. I took mobic for the inflamed. (Didn't help) I am to chicken to get the cortizone shots. I did take steroids twice. They helped tons for a week or so. My foot doctor said you only need them 3 times a yr. Any info would be appreciated.
Ellen
Ellen Tart,
Do not let them give you more than one cortizone shot. After two shots it will cause your bones to weaken and break. You will develope major issues from them. I know because my family's friend is a nurse and told my mother after she under went cortizone shots. She warned my mother and my mother confronted the doctor, who admited it was true. Most cases of heel spurs, surgery is called for. You need to go to a foot doctor to get more options.
I hope this helps you.
Your friend,
Tina Cannon

Thanks Tina,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Would you believe my insurance said I must have tried 2 shots before being considered to have spur surgery. I am not planning on having it. I pray if I get the RNY they will improve with weight loss.
Thanks for answering, Ellen
Hi, Ellen! Did you get the help you wanted about your foot issues? I just thought I would tell you that I found my solution before my WLS. Now, you make think I am a fruit loop...maybe...but not about this...! lol Truth is, I bought new shoes...CLARKS...and I was cured of that awful pain...night and day pain...GONE. Truly, the name brand "Clarks" are somehow formed perfectly to protect the foot and my pain was so gone. I had been to the doctor and endured the horrendous pain of the cortizone shots two times. Yes, I got some relief...but the cure came with the shoes. Try them and let me know. I find them at discount shoe stores like "DWS" and sometimes "T.J. Maxx". I will also tell you that after weight loss...my back and other bone "aches" are mostly gone. I say, "mostly gone" because I am old, "58" and have some osteoarthritis that causes some joint aches from time to time. Now, I imagine you are thinking, "This is too much info.!"...but I want to help. My best to you always, Jerry Ann in Hendersonville, TN.
