Next Support Group Meeting-Jackson TN

I'm glad there is something going on in the Jackson area. What did you guys talk about? How many were in attendance? Is this group affiliated with any surgeon or clinic? Who is the leader and what are the goals of the group? Is it for multiple surgery types? Sorry to bombard with questions... just curious to see if this would be something I want to participate in.

Mainly the first meeting was a get to know you session. We each talked about our experiences with different phases of surgery. There were four of us at the first meeting. The Centennial Medical Center in Nashville is sponsoring the support group (providing materials, information, professional speakers, etc). I, Darlene Hughes, am the group leader and have been through a training session with CMC, I think we will all take a leadership part, because we are all at different stages in the process. Three of us have had the surgeryn all-RNY, one is waiting for insurance approval. We have one person 3 years out, one person is 2 years out and one person is approaching her 1 year anniversary. We have one who has had some plastic surgery so she can share those experiences with the others. Overall we have the RNY procedure covered, but do not have anyone who has had lap band, although CMC has supplied me with some info on lap band. We would be more than happy for you to join us and see if we would be a fit for you. Since we are at a beginning stage, we would like to help as many people as possible.
