I just want to thank everyone for all the prayers and good wishes. My surgery went just about perfectly and I'm well on my way to a new life! I meant to post yesterday when I got home to let y'all know how things went but I've been dealing with a wonky internet connection. The only unexpected occurrence was the discovery of a small growth on the outside of my esophagus. While Dr. Houston said that he didn't feel it was of any real concern, they did a biopsy since it was out of the ordinary. I should have those results back the first of the week. Thanks to everyone who has posted their experiences here. After reading through them and talking to several of you, I was completely prepared for every step of the process, from what to expect in pre-surgery to how to psyche yourself up to walk the halls and speed your recovery. God Bless all of you and thanks again for your concern! Joe

Welcome to the losers' side!!! I'm so glad you are doing well. I'm sure the growth is nothing to worry about but do keep us posted on that especially. Good luck with everything and my thoughts are with you. Congratulations!

Joe, We are all so glad to see you back and doing well so soon after surgery... I was thinking about whether or not you would post Thursday eve or Friday... did I talk to your wife when I called? My memory is awful... but she said she had surgery too... that is really great that you have someone in your life that has had surgery. You can really get support now! My roommate had surgery 2 months prior to mine... and it really helped me a lot. Now, we have kind of a silent rule around here... its ok to lurk BEFORE surgery... but no more lurking AFTER surgery. We expect to hear from you! Keep us posted.

Yes, that was my wife Jenny. She had her bypass surgery four years ago and her success and support were what led me to finally make my decision for surgery. She's the greatest! Even though we didn't speak directly, I appreciated the call. It was very encouraging to know that people whom I hadn't actually "met" were concerned with how I was doing. And yes, I had intended to post on Friday. It was the first thing on my "to do" list. However, we spent Friday night at my mom's house and for some reason her wireless connection doesn't like me.

Great to see you back, now you are a LOSER too. Never thought it would be a good thing to be a loser did ya. Everyone on the yahoo group for centennial has been asking about you too, so you might want to post there to. I would update them from the OH site. I am so happy for you. Weigh to go. Darlene
