The nurse called me from my PCP's office and stated that I first have to attend a seminar on May 15th. I wish there was one sooner, but I am exited nonetheless. My doctor has contacted Dr. Boyce's office as well, and this is what they told him ( to attend the seminar.) I would like to thank everyone for your warm welcome and replies and answers to my questions. Im on my way!.... My sister said that I was "cheating" if I got the surgery... easy for her to say, she is only 135 lbs and looks great ( she works her butt off though) ! It hurt my feelings though and made me leary of sharring my plans with anyone else. For the time being, I am just going to tell the majority that I am getting my ovarian cyst removed ( I am thinking about combining this with the lap band for real) I just cant believe that there are really " haters" out there!

Sherri, You better get ready for the onslaught of "haters". This is your sister and she was probably nice about saying what others won't be. I applaud you for the start of your jouney and hope all goes quickly and well for you. Just want you to know that you have my permission to "smack" anyone who says "You took the easy way Out" If this is easy, I don't want to see hard. Good Luck, Darlene

I had my surgery 11/6/06 by Dr. Boyce and my husband had his on 11/20/06 by Dr. Boyce as well. I have lost 72 pounds and he has lost 110 pounds. I highly recommend Dr. Boyce. He and his entire staff are wonderful!! I agree with getting ready for the "haters". You will see that only people who are skinny now don't think you should have the surgery. I think that they are afraid you will get thinner than they are. I went to my PCP today and when I got weighed the nurse asked how much weight that made me having lost when I told her 72 pounds the elderly lady waiting for the scale asked how I did it and said "Did you jus****ch what you ate?". I told her that I had had gastric bypass surgery and she just looked and me and said "Oh" in a you took the easy way out voice. This is definitely not the easy way out. It is still a struggle every day not to eat the foods that you once ate that made you as big as you were. It's also a test each time you try something new to see if your new stomach is going to handle it well or not. You learn very quickly what to eat and what not to eat. When you go shopping and see the clothes sizes dropping it definitely makes you feel like it was all worth it. The look on people's faces who haven't seen you for a long time and can't believe what you look like now- it's incredible. Feel free to email me if you have any questions regarding Dr. Boyce or anything else. We have a support group that meets at Pellisippi State in Maryville the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10am. We always have a wide variety of people (those who have had it/those who are about to have it/those trying to get approved) and we learn something each time we go.

I attended my nuitrition class today and will have RNY surgery on April 23. I have working on getting insurance approval for almost 2 years and I am thrilled that it finally did get approved...and my journey is about to start. Dr. Boyce and his staff are very helpful and supportive. So far all my family and friends have been very supportive so for that I am very grateful.
