I arrived home yesterday, It was a rough day adjusting to oral pain management. I just barely got in my fluids and protein. Sleeping last night was miseary could not get comfortable had a hard time getting in and out of bed. I came up with a solution for the bed though. I used Emili's (Youngest Daughter) it's a full sized bed on the bottom with a twin size for a top bunk. Easy to get in and out of used the rails twin to help me get in and out. Lots of nice storage for mp3 player, phone, ..... Thanks to Emili and Faith for sending there good luck charms with me to the Hospital ( Emili's stuffed catfish and Faith's hand crafted heart. Today has been much smoother had a shower, almost all my fluids proteins and meds. I've got a question ??? How long Does gas Lasttttttttttttttttttttt???????? Thanks for all the support, Steve

Oh Steve! You poor dear! It took a good week and half for it to be gone completely. You can take some Gas-X. That helps. The other thing I can tell you is to WALK!!!! As much as you can tolerate. I even walked on my treadmill just to get some walking in to get rid of the gas. I didn't go very fast or very long but it did help! Welcome to the losing side! Janie

I must have been lucky... the worse of my gas was the first day out of surgery and I was constantly walking..but I didn't have any other trouble after that first day. Hope you get to feeling better April

Steve, Gas X has a thin strip that is wonderful, it does not require any water and it melts on your tongue, you may want to try those instead of the pills. I know I had a little trouble with pills and the larger ones, I still do. It will get better, Loser!! Shelia

Steve do you have a recliner? I'm telling you... I stayed at my mother's and the first 2 weeks I slept in and out of the recliner... one night in the recliner, then when I could finally get in bed, I'd sleep in the bed... for half the night then back to the recliner... back and forth. It helped a lot.... not sure about the gas... I dont' remember having a hard time with that... wait, yes I did have a lot of gas pain and it was hard to "release it" haha but if you keep having problems, and especially if you cannot go to the bathroom, let your dr know.
