Friends, For those of you who have been out a while and still have trouble getting protein. Here is a good way to get it in Beef Jerky. Look for a Beef Jerky that is low in sodium. For those who have to watch there sodium levels. They even have a Turkey Jerky too. also low in sodium too and for those who can not stand beef jerky. Turkey Jerky is prefect. Some have 17 grams of protein for 1oz. and others have 23-28 grams for 1oz. It Depends on the type of jerky. It makes a good snack for those who can have a snack and is looking for a good way to get in protein. Find the one that makes you go yum! I enjoy this snack and I am 6months out. I have been eating this for 4-3 months now. And I am handling it great. Blood work looks good. So the jerky is working for me. I still have my hair and it is thick too. I hope this help's you all some. Do what your doctor and your body tell's you what is right. Your friend, Tina Cannon

I love beef/turkey jerky because it gives you something to chew on for a long time and has a lot of flavor. I had to give it up when I got my braces a year ago and now am waiting to finish my dental work so I can enjoy it again. I have some in my pantry just waiting for me! My favorite brand is Jack Links. But I love my son-in-law's venison jerky too. When I can get it!

Susan, I love beef/jerky too. My favorite it Jack Links Terr. Brand. It seems to be the easier one for me to eat and swallow. I had braces when I was younger. You can have beef jerky just cut the it into small bites and chew slowly. That way you do not jerk or teeth with your teeth. So you do not have to wait on your jerky. The braces are gone. Now I am just waiting on my permanent bridges/veneers and partial plate. I have to be very careful right now because the temps are more delicate than the permanent ones will be. Nothing real hard or chewy right now. Since I have over $7,000 dollars invested in my mouth right now, I don't want to take any chances. I can wait another week or two before having the jerky. Perhaps I can get DSIL to make me some venison jerky to celebrate! I do have Jack Links Tender Bites in the pantry for when I am ready.

Thanks, Tina. I would like to get some turkey jerky. I can't find it.... where did you get yours? Might be another thing to add to the protein packet... good idea.

Melinda R, Go to wal-mart in the nuts, and snack row. Look at the one piecers too. They tend to have 23-28 gram of protein. While the others usually have 14-17 and up. Just have to look. But if you want something that is high in protein deer meat and deer jerky. It is very high in protein and is lean and good for us too. Your friend, Tina Cannon

Here's my recipe for homemade jerky. Get a food dehydrator, when buying the meet, buy a bottom rump roast, have it sliced 1/8" thick. Trim away any fat. Dip it in Dale's seasoning and place on the dehydrator. It takes about 20-24 hours to back it on the dehydrator. The taste lingers in your mouth from the seasonings. Most merinading stuff calls for any where from 6-24 hours of soaking. With Dales you just dip and put it on the trays. For chicken or turkey jerky, it must be cooked first. The 5 trays will hold up to 2lbs. Makes great gifts for Christmas. Keep it refrigerated. You can also dehydrate apple rings, orange rings. Not been able to do much with the bananas. Oh when you want a fresh slice of an apple or orange, place it in ho****er for 15 seconds and it's as fresh and juice as when you bought it. If you are into flowers, dyhydrate them for popouri. Be sure when the flowers are done that you add a cinammon stick to them. I do apple and orange slices at Christmas and can be hung on the tree. Then eaten afterwards. I do onions, celery and celery flakes, green peppers, any herb you want. That way when you buy produce and it's on sale as it's getting old like green peppers, dry them and put them in soups. Same as with the other veggies. Half the work will be done when you are making soup. Experiment and have fun. I've had mine since 1997, got both my sons one for Christmas in 2005. I use my constantly as I can't eat some veggies like celery or a bag of carrots, so I dry them for a later time. Love ya, Kathy

Kathy, Thank you for your suggestion. I am seriously thinking about doing it. It would save me so much money I can really see doing it. I am thinking on it. Thanks. Your friend, Tina Cannon
