Today for lunch, my family and I went to Chili's for lunch. I ordered the Firecracker Tilapia (scraped off the sauce), corn on the cob and seasoned veggies. I ate the whole piece of tilapia and most of the corn on the cobb. I'm only 6 weeks out but OMG it was good. It was the first thing in weeks that I really enjoyed! My dilema is that I ate it all without a problem. I admit I was stuffed when I finished but I'm concerned that I overdid it. It didn't make me sick though. I'm finding that I have to really watch the amounts I eat. Somedays I could eat the side of a barn and others I could care less if I eat or not. I've had lots of emotional ups and downs on the weekends. I'm really having to watch the amounts I eat expecially on the weekends. I'm not eating anything off plan but I'm eating more than the 400 to 600 calories this weekend. Thanks for listening! Janie Dr. Houston

WOW Janie, I am right at 14 weks and I have been there and ordered the same thing recently, but I could only eat about a sixth of the Tilapia and I was really too full then....therefore, I would be careful about the size of the portions, because you do not want to strech out your pouch. I know that it will strech some, but you are just 6 weeks out, I am concerned that it is too soon. Also, I did not think that we were to eat corn on the cob, its a starch and the kernels are hard to digest and could get stuck in our pouch. Just wanted to put that out there, I am not getting on to you, I am just wanting to help!!! Shelia

... just wanted to add to what shelia said, that corn is an okay food... it should be eaten in moderation only though. Centennial's eating plan has cream corn on the menu, but only if we've eaten our protein source first and still have room. No one's pouch is the same either... cooked fish is very soft and easy to eat = easy to digest.. speaking of digestion...Corn never digests properly regardless of surgery or not. I've never heard of anyone getting corn stuck in their pouch... corn kernels are so soft and small.. I would worry more about eating a popcorn corn kernel than anything. At any rate....just wanted to say corn is okay share my two cents Also, you're still early out... I had the hardest time figuring out if I was full or not when I was early out from surgery... that is why it is important to measure. I have too have days where I feel I can eat and eat and eat... other days I can look at food and be full...very crazy!

Thanks Sheila and April! Thank you for validating that you have days that you could eat and eat and eat and days where you could care less whether you eat or not. That's why I was so amazed that I could eat my fish and still have room for the corn. It was so crazy! It was corn on the cob which you never get the whole kernal anyway. I wasn't too worried since the corn was our list. But it's a rare occasion when I have room to eat my veggie so I rarely fix one. Thanks again! Janie
