Prayer Request

Okay, I think of all of you as family and decided that I would post this. Last night, I went to my support group meeting and at the last minute Susan and I went to Chili's and shared some salmon and a lot of conversation, which I enjoyed very much. However, it was 10:00 before we knew it and I got home a lot later than normal. When I got home, I lost control of my bowels and knew that was unusual, because I had never done this before, I went to clean up and noticed that my legs, ankles, and feet were swollen, not a little, A LOT. I took a hot bath and soaked them to see it that would help and when I got up this morning they were even worse. They are to the point that my toes are numb and tingly, it feels like the circulation is going away. I contacted Dr. Spaw, he was in surgery and as I waited for him to get out, they continued to get worse. You could place your finger on them and leave an indention a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch depending on where you pressed and it just stays for a long period of time. The only other time I have had my legs this way, was when I was pregnant with my son and had Toxemia. I called my PCP's office and he was not in today, so I saw another doctor @ 1. My PCP is very up on WLS surgery and everything and I am very comfortable with him, but this doctor I had never seen before, however very nice, did not know anything about my WLS and that scared me. He examined me and found a tender spot in my lower spine and tenderness in my calf area of both of my legs. Otherwise, he could not determine the cause of the swelling. He went and got another doctor to look at me for another opinion, he too, could not determine the cause of the swelling. The second doctor made the statement that he has seen patients that have had this surgery and 3 months down the road they start having problems, because they are not getting in everything they need. I assured him that I am not one of those patients, because I have done everything by the book, I get every bit of the liquids in and anywhere from 60 to 80 grams of protein in a day, I even went into how I get it in. When I mentioned that I make sure that I do not go over 30 grams of protein at a time, because our bodies do not absorb but 30 grams, his comment was, "Well, I am not sure about that", that made me feel a little uneasy. I continued to explain that I exercise and how I have stopped taking all my meds and why I had surgery in the first place, I hope he realized that this surgery can save lives and maybe have a different attitude. He did say that most of the patients that he sees that have problems are complaining of being tired and not enough energy and he can tell that I have plenty of energy. He mentioned several things that could be wrong, something with my heart, kidneys, and my liver. My liver is what they found to have cirrhosis when Dr. Spaw did my surgery and in March the blood work was showing that it was at 100% function and regenerating. However, my doctor said he would continue to keep a close watch on it to make sure that it continues to improve. They took a ton of blood work and urine tests to see what shows up and then they will determine tomorrow if I need to be admitted into Vanderbilt or not. However, when I left, I just did not feel 100% comfortable, because I felt that this doctor did not know what to do, and was somewhat trying to place the blame on my WLS surgery, in another words, he does not support WLS. Therefore, I called Mae back at Dr. Spaw's and she said his surgeries went long this morning and he was on the way back to the office, to just come over there, because he would probably want to see me. HE DID as soon as he saw my legs!!! He is very concerned, but he does not feel that it is WLS related, nor is it blood clot, because it is in both legs. He is not sure what it could be and wants to see the blood work as soon as it comes back. He said that this is very strange to just come up that quick and not go away. He is very concerned as well. Therefore, I am asking for everyone to please keep me in your prayers, because this is very odd and is really worrying me. Sorry to be such a whinny person, but I needed to get it off my chest. *****Susan, Sorry I did not call and tell you, but I have been so upset. *****Paula, I have been praying for you and a little bird (me) spoke to the big bird today. *****Melinda, You must take care of yourself, because your health as you know is important and no job is worth that. ******Kym, I will try to give you a call as soon as I can. ******Sue, It is great to finally see your picture, your Avatar looks WONDERFUL!!! ******Everyone else, You are all great and I could send you all personal messages, but I have to get to my homework, just in case I end up in the hospital, my instructors online, said that they accept no late assignments, even if you are in the hospital, hurricane, and just about any other reason you can think of!!! ******Kroger yogurt people!! Shelia, Just wanted to say that you are in my prayers and you are not whining. Do your kidneys seem to be functioning correctly. This really does sound like flluid b/u and maybe they will find out quickly what is causing it. I would see a urologist if it doesn't clear up/go away in a few days. Take care of yourself, Darlene

Thanks Darlene, They never mentioned a urologist, I hope it is because they are waiting on the blood work, but they did mention my kidney's. Shelia I am praying that this is a fluke!!!
