Two week notice
Hey everyone,
So I gave my notice today and they basically told me I was not needed then they treated me like a criminal and hovered over me as I packed my desk and then escorted me from the building so now those who are not in my department all think I was fired. I was humiliated to be treated this way just because I found a job somewhere else. I like Verizon as a company but sometimes they make it like they think they are so good that they don't have to treat you with respect and like they are the only good company in the world. Now because they did this I will likely not have a paycheck on Tuesday cause they want to hold my check to see if my STD gets approved or not. This means I can't pay my rent which is already late. I should be upset but it just shows me that I made a good choice. Cross your fingers and hope I don't end up homeless soon. I will keep you updated!
This makes my blood boil! Every human resources alarm bell I have is going off. What they are doing is wrong on so many levels. Did they say anything about paying you for the 2 week notice that they are not letting you work? If they are not going to pay you for the 2 weeks, then they did fire you and you can apply for unemployment benefits.
They know that most people will just take this kind of treatment without a fight because it costs money to hire an attorney and most people in your position just don't have the money to take it to court. What they are doing is against the law!
I feel so bad for you. Like you said, this does show that you have made a good choice. I pray you will be treated with the respect you deserve at your new job.
Hi Melissa, I agree with Susan. I would even contact the Better business Bureau and report how they treated you on your last day. If they don't pay for the two weeks, then yes you were considered fired. I would report it all to the BBB. What they did is against the law. Keep your chin up and look for happier times. I am sorry you are having to go thru all this. Love Kathy
