Medicare and TENN CARE......GBS who accepts??

Hello!.......I am still waiting on a date. I have had all the tests......gathered all my paperwork,clearance letters.....made triple sure that all my documentation was done to a "T" and I am STILL waiting!.........I love the dr I chose. BUT........I was wondering two things??? Who else on this board has used UT MEDICAL GROUP in Memphis TN ...Dr Madan or Tichansky? and Does anyone know if there are other West Tennessee Centers of Excellence that accepts Medicare and TennCare??.....................I understand staring over might mean completely starting over.....but come on.........any suggestions??

I am not familar  with West TN I am just out of Nashville . I do understand the wait  Dr Dyer only does 1 or 2 Medicare medicaid  patiants a month I had to wait several months  before I was schedulaed  and then it was still a few more month before my date . Hang in there ... Can you call and get a rough idea  about when your  Dr will have a date for you ?? Laura

 Hello........I have emailed and called and faxed till I am blue in the face. His staff isn't the friendlest around.   Another poster said that they are trying to use the same dr and are getting similar results.........NOTHING.........I understand they moved to Germantown near Wolfe Chase Mall,That will be a little bit closer to me......I live in Humboldt......that is 15 minutes away from Jackson...the next big town is Memphis. I have 3 friend that used Dr Dyer and all three are doing wonderful.      I did try Dr Dyer but was unable to use him because they say he is NO LONGER..taking Medicare and TennCare.....he told one of my friend that he has a hard time getting them to pay him. Any other suggestions?

I knew he had had a hard time with them  I think that may have been cleared up . When did you last ask  them ?? I know it is a hard  drive and follow up would be a challange . The other thing you may try is calling Medicare to find a provider in your area  I am not sure if it would be listed on their website  Laura

 Hello..... I have called  Medicare........They are the nearest Center of Excellence to me........I really like him ......and I could like a bear if she was polite and respectful.....you know what  I mean.......I have gone through all the tests and clearance letters I don't want to start over........I guess I will just wait it out a little longer...........Most Center's of Excellence won't take TennCare........without TennCare as my second insurance  GBS....will not be an option.....

Leticia try Dr. Weaver at Saint Franise Hospital they have been so friendly and helpful with me . Dr Weaver has quite a few  backed up because of having a baby but they will do every thing possible to help you. I tried to get into that group you are with and they flat out refushed because I am 66 years old. Dr Weaver's staff are always reachable. Have you done your 6 month diet yet?  Good Morning!.......I did call and talk to a lady in her office and at Saint Francis.......they sent me their packet........They said they do not accept TennCare....... I have Medicare and TennCare......If they would take my TennCare I would be right on it.......My case worker said they are even taking on some of her( DrWeaver's) patients!!............I want to cry.............usually if someone has Medicare all doctors jump on it....but now this unclear "new rule"....has messed My doctor up....his staff see the rule as 18 months of weight loss attempts...when  in fact it is only 6 months.... My case manager......isn't friendly at all......... she is always grouchy and rude......I am just thankful  she won't be taking care of me during my surgery.her bedside manner is something........... I am a  divorced Mom of one 19 year old daughter in college....there just isn't 20% of the GBS laying around....without my TennCare as my second insurance ......GBS will only be a dream....  Yes......I have done ALL the required tests and 6 months of diet documentated in my chart, I even went to Aqua Therapy  for  six weeks....I tried two different medications to help loose weight from April of last year until November of last year along with the diet ........I have  done everything and now this......... Any suggestions ?????.......I want to live!!!!!!!...............

 Hey......Guess What??...I called Saint Francis Hospital again today.......YES!! they do take TennCare IF it is the second insurance.......I had called a few weeks ago and was told  flat out NO.....that they only took private insurance, Medicare  and cash!!.......Today..I spoke to Jeannette? and she said to mail the packet..they had mailed me on May 1st. (when I was emailing around Tennessee about the Medicare "new rule'.)....anyhow she said if was 6 months supervised weight  loss attempt......... NOT 18  months.............She was very encouraging..........very nice........so I am finishing up getting copies of all my stuff and putting everything in order..........HOPEFULLY........DR. Weaver will be able to do  my surgery......... I did  in all fairness email my first pick surgeon.....and ask ONE LAST time if he had made a decision  about moving forward with  his  Medicare patients.....I haven't heard from him yet. Usually he is very quick to respond. I will keep you posted!!.........Leticia

Hi, I realize it's a drive and you would have to stay in the area until you see the surgeon after discharge, but the one I had is Dr. Colquitt out of Maryville just south of Knoxville.  He takes Medicare and Medicade.  He did mine after finding out I had leukemia.  He's great.  Here's his office number and by the way the staff is wonderful to work with, it's 865-984-3413.  Mom and I had to stay in a motel for 5 days until I saw Dr. Colquitt to remove the final drain tube. if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.  With using Medicare and Medicade you don't get prior approval, so that helps on the waiting time.  Kathy

Hi Kathy........that is too far........there is NO way I can come that far. I will have to go to Memphis. I am a single mother, My daughter doesn't drive. I am  trying to hold out for Dr. Madan or Dr Tichansky........the UT Medical Group.........Do you know of another surgeon in Memphis that takes Medicare and TN CARE?........Thanks for the info on Dr Colquitt........YOU have LUEKEMIA?  How are you doing?.........What if any problem did you have with the insurance companies? Did you end up having to pay anything?..........Thanks, Leticia
