You would think that that title would make you proud but in my case NO!   On September 27th I had my Lap Band removed.  At just a few day shy of my 11 month mark.  I had a "simmering" or "smoldering" infection in my abd cavity.  I was gravely ill, I begged to have surgery as quick as possible. (when it was found what was the problem)  I was in Centennial for 5 days came home monday and just got my drains out yesterday.  I have so many mixed emotions, mourning, pain, worry, upset, you name it I am an emotional wreck.  I just need support.  Plus, pay attention to yourself.  This can happen to any person having surgery.
Life is a string of problems, held together by moments of pure bliss.  Enjoy the moment it may be your BLISS!

Know that you are lifted up in prayer today - and for many more days to come. I can only imagine what you're feeling right now. If I can say anything to encourage you, it would be --- just think, you had a powerful tool on your side for the past 11 months. And during that 11 months you made LIFESTYLE changes. That was YOU doing YOUR part! "Pretend" you still have the band in place. Maintain those LIFESTYLE changes! Keep doing your part! (smaller portions, lots of protein, drinking lots of water, etc.) You should be in a routine of what and how much you ate, etc. Just keep doing what you know to do. And EXERCISE! Even if it's just walking! Whatever you were in the habit of doing before, keep doing it. If you really weren't doing much consistently, start walking! Right now, emotionally you need this as much as you need it physically. And definitely keep going to your support group! You need them now as much as ever. Hugs to you...    ~ Tara

Hi Linda, I am truly sorry that this has happened to you.  But as the other posters, you can still stick to the same program and pretend the band is still there. Will Dr. Houston do the gastric on you at a later date?  Now that you are on a certain program, continue to eat small, excersise, drink plenty of water, and get in your protein.  That will help you to continue to lose the weight, as you don't want to end up gaining it all back.  I will keep you in my prayers that all will work itself out and that you will continue to get better and continue to lose the weight.   May God be with you during this trying time in your life.  Love kathy
