I think I have a doctor

Dr. Sass at Memorial in Chattanooga. I will be attending a seminar in December. Dr. Sass primarily does gastric bypass. I will ask about lap banding. Now I need to know what to ask at the seminar. And what requirements I have to meet before surgery. And what records I need to compile. I would also like info about Dr Sass. Thanks Pooh Bear

Congrats Pooh I knew that you would find a surgeon eventually......Don't know anything about him.......as far as what to ask is ANYTHING that you want to know...the more info the better.......good luck

 Although I have never heard anytihng about him especially doing lapbands ..I did find his office phone number  here it is .. Dr Robert Sass 423-495-2244 toll free  866-313- 2244  call and ask if he does lapbands before you go and if he accepts your insurance  this way it may just save you a trip . let your fingers do the walking While  I  was researching, it said he had joined South park and Memorial  Hospitals in the Chatanooga area this Feb. and was doing RNYS   Also try scrolling down on the left side on this page where the blue boxes are and look for the heading   Find a Bariatric Surgeon     some surgeon names and phone numbers in Tennessee will come up and what kind of surgery they do .I know how frustrating this must be for you! Keep searching  do not give up!!

Dr Sass does accept my insurance. I'm not certain which procedure he does, or will do. I did find the guidelines from my insurance online: http://tennessee.gov/tenncare/forms/bariatric.pdf According to that, stapling and gastric ballooning are the procedures that are not covered.  It doesn't mention not covering lap banding.  So maybe it's ok. Looks like I need 6 months of record keeping. And a psychologist to sign off on WLS for me. So now I need to find a psychologist. Pooh Bear
