Questions!!
Okay, I need some advise from the board. I am just not hungry and nothing taste good. It is all I can do to make myself eat or drink protien and liquids and some days I'm not very good at that. I know that I need to get in the protien and liquids, but I'm just not hungry and when I do try something it's maybe 3 bites and I'm done. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated, my husband is starting to get worried. Melissa
Hey SIL! What you are going through is very normal. Your brother is suffering from it too! He like Jello though, so he eats that. I have stayed on him to get in his protein, making him drink protein shakes and such. He doesn't care for them though. Just keep pluggin' away. It will get better in time. Have you tried soft eggs yet? not scrambled but soft boiled or over easy. I can't do scrambled very well but can the others. I have some protein shake recipes from Sheila I can give you, give a call. Have a great day!!!
Peace!
Beth
Maybe the foods you're trying are too dense for you right now.... try cottage cheese, eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad, string cheese...etc. I hated the Isopure drinks that we were required to drink post-op when I had surgery and had no appetite whatsoever....I had to really make myself drink those things and really focus on my water intake. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be...but over time, it got better. It will get better for you....and unfortunately, the hunger will return so enjoy not feeling it now..but keep chugging your fluids! :-)
Melissa, that is normal at your stage, concentrate on the protein and liquids, and keep trying those little bites. I done the same thing I to was worried, but things got better. Since my last adj on 11/28 I have had very little if any restriction, that is not good. I have fallen off the wagon on more than once since then. So I am scared when I go back on 01/08 that I have gained. I am not making excuses, but being on vacation and being sick, I have been eating basically whatever makes me and my throat feel better. I know that is not right, I'm trying not to beat myself up too bad about it, I mean what's done is done. Because of this crud that I have I don't feel like doing excersie either, which is a double whammy for me. I do seem to be getting in my water at least that is a plus for me. Just hang in there it will get better, tell DH to try not to worry I'm sure that you are doing enough worry for the both of you. Hope things get better.

Thanks, I have tried soft scrambled eggs- that was a no go. I will just keep sipping and getting in the protien. Beth, I have down loaded a lot of protien drink recipies- we used them quite a bit before surgery I liked quite a few of them and Jim contiues to use them, my problem is I just don't want them. I knew that I would get the help that I needed on this board- you guys are great. Melissa
Melissa,
I couldn't stand the protein shakes at all, but then I started freezing them and they tasted so much better. I think I fooled my mind into thinking they were an ice cream treat and since they are frozen, it takes a while to eat them so you don't overeat. \
This is so normal and unfortulately the hunger will be back. Take advantage of it while you can, but don't forget to get those basics in or you will get dehydrated and malnourished and might end up in the hospital. So take care of yourself.
