Almost 2 week update

Hi everyone, So sorry it has taken me so long to update everyone on how I'm doing. So far, my procedure and recovery has been textbook perfect. I am already eating meats (ham, beef, pork, tuna, chicken, etc) and have had scrambled eggs and oatmeal too. I am working on getting my 90 gms of protein a day in, but with some supplement from EAS I am making it. So far the dreaded DS dh and gas haven't happened. I go see Dr. Spaw for my 2 week post surgical followup on Thursday to get my staples removed and my drivers license back...YEAH!!! I have cabin fever so bad, but with everyone running around with some kind of resp virous, I imposed on myself a 2 week semi quarantine at home to keep from catching anything. Last thing I wanted was to start coughing with 33 staples in my abdomen. Laura is trying to talk me into coming down with her to the Centennial meeting Monday night, but I really need to stay home with the little one. I may try and make one later. Thanks again for all of your prayers and well wishes. Doug

That is his normal restrictions after an open DS. I also have an 8 lb/8 wk lifting restriction as well. Dr. Spaw doesn't do the DS laproscopically. Hope that answered your questions. Your servant and brother in Him, Doug

Welcome Home Doug! My wife asked me if I had posted your Losers Bench yet, and i told her this was your first post since surgery on the TN board!  Well welcome to the Loser Bench!  May it be a place of rest after a day of walking.  a place of comfort while you sip you fluids.  And last but not least, may it be splinter free! Welcome home Buddy!

Scott, Thanks for the beautiful bench. It looks great! Everyone hates me because of my rapid recovery, but I'm already back to drinking like normal. The only thing I still can't drink fast is soda( I have had some), but everything else I am. I have been so fortunate with my procedure and recovery. Thanks again. Your servant and brother in Him, Doug

I know you will be glad to have the staples removed. I remember how those things can irritate you. Welcome to the Loser's bench !
