question for Baptist support group
Hi everybody. I have a friend who is having RNY on March 18th at Vanderbilt. She's not been happy with the process there and as of today she hasn't even met her surgeon. She was going to change drs and hospitals but was afraid to since she had her approval from ins. She didn't know what she would have to go through before getting scheduled. Anyway, she asked me if she could start coming with me to the support group mtgs at Baptist. I told her I didn't see any reason why she couldn't. My question--was I right to tell her that?

If she isn't feeling a hundred percent about her surgeon/surgical center then in good faith I'd check out someone else. Baptist/Dr. Spaw has been wonderful ....I had my surgery 9 months ago and have been very pleased. They are very personal, professional and caring. I'd tell her to call the Baptist office and talk to the insurance people to see if she decided to change what that would entail. The hardest part is getting the approval which she has already.
I do agree,,Dr Spaw is great,,I had surgery last monday and he answered all my question's and the office staff was great about getting my approval fast !
Come to the meeting,,I believe it is the 1st tuesday of every month,,I already have my post-op appoinment set for thursday so I will be there,,the people are great !!
Yeppers! Even if she continues with Vandy and has her surgery there, she will be more than welcome at the Baptist support group.
Since she has her letter of approval she could always give Dawn a call at Baptist and see if it would be possible to switch centers. That is entirely up to her.
