Looking for info
Thanks, Scott. It is very nice to meet you. I'm sure I will have many questions as I journey through the process. I've been contemplating the surgery for over a year now and at one time decided against it, but amid progressing health challenges I've decided to ask my MD for a referral. I'm planning to see Dr. Michael Hodges in Johnson City. I know two people who had their surgeries there who have done very well, which is reassuring. They have the same kind of insurance I do. I haven't seen them on the forum this time around and I don't know how to contact them anymore. It would be great to have a friend who can guide me through whatever is to come. Thanks so much.
Karen,
I don't have your insurance but my advice is to call them and have them give you a website where you can go download their policy or send you a copy snail mail. Also, if you have a handbook, it should be in there along with a list of doctors/medical facilities that are recommended. Also, check in your area for any free seminars offered by bariatric doctors. These usually include a packet of information which will include some insurance information. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Darlene. I did call them today and I don't want to be mean but the lady I talked to was completely ignorant about weight loss surgery. I asked what was required for approval and she said she couldn't find anything in her computer about it. She said the surgeon should know if he has worked on Blue Care patients before. Unbelievable.
Then when I was ready to sign off she asked if I got what I wanted out of the call. LOL
