can anyone tell me the difference in proximal and distal rny surgeries

Proximal means less of the small intestine is bypassed and distal means more of the small intestine is bypassed. Someone please correct me if I have it backwards. Karen

i think distal. but im not really sure. I go for my pre-op on monday and I will definatly find out.                                                                                                                aggie
