Hi everyone. I am now living in an effiency motel room in LaVergne, just two miles from my son and his family.  I still have a hard time swallowing, as my throat after 3 weeks is still swollen.  Now I find that one nerve to the vocal cord is paralyzed, and the other is partial paralyzed.  I can barely talk and it's a real strain, can't breath and talk at the same time as the swelling is putting pressure on my air wave.   I found that I have to have a very serious and very risky surgery to replace the nerves. My ENT says it will take longer then when I had the gastric bypass. OUCH!!! Then throat therapy to learn to talk again, like mom when she had her stroke.  I do have a malpractice lawsuit against the surgeon.  I am just going to wait until all the tests are done.  I do have a metal plate in my neck with screws holding the disks in place.  The bone and marrow that was cut from my hip has healed.  Wish the dr.'s would leave my right hip alone and mess with the left one once in a while.  Just another chapter in my life. Met a new guy a couple of days ago.  He lives in the same complex I live in.  Seems really nice so far, we'll see.  I thought Rick was nice too, then he just up and quit calling after the March Dinner.  I sure wish he was around when I had this surgery to fix the disks in my neck.  Especially when I found out that as soon as the swelling in my throat goes down that I will be facing more major surgery before the other nerve becomes paralyzed.  I needed a hug, a friend and no one around.  Good thing I know some sign language.  Kind of hard to talk on the phone when it's a real strain just to get a word out.  I'm going to keep a notepad with me when I'm out in the public, as no one can hear me when I try and speak.  That or get a TTY  phone system.  Looking at all options, just in case I can't talk after this next surgery.   I'm not going to worry about the above at this time.  God is in charge and he knows what's going on.   I'm am now back-on line and my phone (469-7639) is back and working.  So now I can start keeping up with y'all. Hey Kathy!! WOW!! You sure have been through alot. I am glad you have a place to stay. Concentrate on healing.........put ALL your energy into getting stronger........ I wondered how you were doing ......I am glad you are getting stronger. ((((HUGS)))) Leticia

Hi it's been awhile. I am taking it easy to heal.  Just trying to get settled in.  Doing laundry at the laundry mat next to my room.  Makes it easy since I can't do any lifting.  Plus the dumpster is next to the laundrymat.  Works for me.  Energy I don't have I tire so easily, I sit up for a while, then get horizonal for a while to rest the neck.  It hurts sitting up for any long period.  Then I get back up and do some more and then get horizonal.  That's ok.  Oh, I live right behind the library, so I am going to do away with the internet since I can walk around the corner to the library.  I drove past my son's road to the apartment and it's 2.3 miles.  Now that it's mapped out, I will be able to walk there at a fast pace and back.  Save on gas, and get in my excercise.  I need to go put the clothes in the dryer.  We'll talk later.  Thanks honey.  Love ya
