There are many people here who have had surgery in Richmond so I am sure they will have lots of words of wisdom for you regarding your surgeon etc. I am sure you are very excited! I know when I was approved I was on a real high - then became terrified lol! Jackie

Hi Jennifer, You don't know how lucky are to have been approved so easily!!! What kind of insurance do you have? I am so excited for you. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that you have this new lease on life available to you now? I just got approved 2 days ago after a long struggle for approval (I had to appeal 2 denials). Good luck with everything, and keep us all posted on your progress! Best Wishes, Robin

I had BCBS Federal and got approved in 4 days - I am sure it was faster really but the surgeon's office had to file the paperwork so it was 4 days from my visit to my phone call with a weekend in between. However it was the longest 4 days of my life. I do not know how the people who have to wait for weeks or go through the denial process do it- the strain must be terrible. I did however have to wait 8 months until I changed to my husband's insurance company in order to get the surgery as my insurance had a clause stating it would not pay for any WLS surgery. I hated that but used the time to read up and gain as much knowledge as I could..... Jackie

I was approved within 24 hours of my initial consultation. I have BCBS FEP. I have been waiting over a year for them to cover bariatric surgery. I decided to get a lapband done by Dr Moazzaz. Their office has been great and very helpful. My surgery date is March 6th, just shy of 6 weeks from first meeting the doctor! They tried to give me an earlier one but I wanted the extra 2 weeks to lose a bit more weight preop. Allison
