Can We Say....OUCH!!!

Well...last night I worked out with the personal trainer. Can you say.....OUCH! Seriously....we did SO much in the 50 minutes. I couldn't believe it. I did: 5 minutes on the ellipticle to warm up Then 3 Rotations of: 12 lunges on each leg (6 regular/6 with toes up)w/ 10# weights 12 frog hops 40 bicycle crunches 10 push-ups (5 reg/5 modified) 20 clams (lay straight on your back with legs out and arms over your head. Raise your upper body up at the same time left 1 leg, then lower your upper body and your leg) 2 Rotations of: Then, we moved onto this thing that looked like 1/2 of a yoga ball. On the rounded side up, get into a push up position with toes on the ball. Lift 1 arm and tap your chest, then the other arm - 20 times 10 push-ups (I had a REAL hard time on this - my arms were giving out) Lift the 10# weights overhead (like military presses) for 60 seconds (about 1/2 way through I had to switch from arm to arm instead of both arms at once). Then, I had to get into a puch up position, by my arms were on the floor (like I was on my elbows), and I had to stay like that for 30 seconds, then drop my knees down and up for 30 seconds, then stay for 30 seconds, then drop my knees for 30 seconds). Then, we moved onto a 30 sec/60 sec/90 sec punching bag rotation: With punching gloves on, 30/60/90 punch the punching bag hard and quick. Then 20 jumping jacks in between. Once I hit 90, I had to go down to 60 and then 30. This was PERFECT for me, becuase i do Turbo Jam and had been wanting to extend into boxing. I felt SO strong (and tired) from this. Then, with this medicine ball thing with handles, I had to squat with the ball between my legs, lift up over head and lower back between my legs. Then....a really good stretch. It felt good - tiring and shaky. Put me out of breath at times. I must have looked bad, because she asked me if I was going to be sick or if I was dizzy. But....as much as I felt myself getting upset (she kept pushing me - you can do it, 1 more) I am SO glad that I am doing this. THAT is EXACTLY what I had hoped for out of this - motivation and challenge! I liked that as I was doing certain things, she would remind me to bring in my abs, or even check to make sure that they were tucked in. But...it was hard on the mind. It kept saying that it was too hard, so I had to struggle with that a bit. But...I'm glad that I am doing it and am looking forward to next week. I plan to do what I did last night this week to be in better "practice". Jill

I read your post to mine .. how funny is this .. And yes .. I had to keep telling myself .. you can do this Nat .. you can .. it is funny how we can position ourselved in our minds to overcome pain and the fear of flight .. Gosh knows there was more than one time I almost said .. Throwing in the towel here .. LOL .. And yes .. Let's keep it up .. and compare the workouts .. it sounds like you have a great trainer .. Mine was good , but I felt like he could have pushed me harder .. I get to interview a new one Saturday .. will see .. Glad to see you are doing this too .. Hugs, Nat

I am exhausted after just reading all of that!! I start with a personal trainer on Monday at 5.30pm - she knows I need to be pushed hard or will slack off - then after a few sessions with her I will get a plan developed for me and can then use the personal trainer from time to time to top it all up. I am excited to do thai and after reading your note - scared stiff lol!! Wish me luck for my survival! Jackie

HAHA! You will be fine. Just rememebr...the mind is terrible. I swear, there were times when I just wanted to walk out....to drop...to tell her off. But, never did - no point. This is why I hired her. I have her for the next 5 weeks, and she's already making it worth while. Giving me some really good things to work on this week - she knows that I want to run the 5K in October and truely feels that I can do it, since it is only 3.1 miles and I am already running 2 miles without stopping (yea me!). So, she gave me a few things to do this week to start building endurance, and to work on muslce in my legs. Plus, i like the variety that she started with. AND...she listened to me. I told her in the initial interview that I like high impact kind of stuff (Turbo Jam - fitness boxing and now walking/jogging) and so she had me do the punching bag - which I REALLY enjoyed. I told her on day 1 what my expectations where and asked her what hers were - I wanted to make sure that we both had a complete understanding of what was expected. It's alot of money to feel jipped. Anyways....HAVE FUN!!! Jill

Well I am hiring mine to do me a good job too so I expect her to make me work hard - even if I am dreading every minute of it - I know I need to do this..... I like Turbo Jam too and do it most days.... I intend that they will do a plan for me to work from and one that will work for me.... It is a lot of money I agree..... but worth it if I can get more toned and lose that 20lbs I want to lose too Jackie
