"Lose NO More..."
"..Or we will consider you underweight".That's what I was told. BMI 24.1, 5' 5.5", 145 lb. I told the nutritionist I had wanted to lose to 130 but that I KNEW I would lose from areas I am very happy with--arms, legs, face--trying to get a few more pounds off my abdomen. She agreed.
She also told me I need to remember that I would probably have 5 pounds of skin taken off if I had plastics (which I will not have). That same 5 pounds would put me in her underweight category. She just said to think of myself as 140 with extra skin (I LIKE that idea!!
). She also said that that skin around the middle is all that is keeping me out of the size 4 britches of Cody's I have been trying so hard to get into.
Anyway--the lab work they draw:
B12, CBC, Complete Metabolic Panel,Glyco Hemoglobin, Iron Level, LDL Cholesterol, Lipid Panel, Magnesium, PTH, Vitamin D 25-OH
Am eager to see the results.
The nut. wants me to eat more fruits and vegs than I listed on my "normal" one day menu I submitted. I told her that sometimes I eat 5 clementines in a day, or salad for 2 days straight. I am on a dried fruit and nut kick right now. Her advice IS worth listening to, though, and I will see what vegs give me the most bang for my buck. Why put in vegs that don't give me the most vitamins possible?
Got to run, I have 2 errands in Lexington and am then on my way to House Mt., to hike with Winston the WONDERDOG, since Wayne my Wonderman is in Tracker Training.
Love you all. Can't wait to see many of you at the Feb. 24 MnG.,
Lois

You ALSO have the additional weight that comes with a heavier skeletal frame - courtesy of our bodies/bones carrying around an overweight shell for "X" number of years. Depending on how long you were obese, your height, obesity ratio, etc, you could add another 5 pounds, minimum to the equation.
I've ALWAYS factored the excess skin (still on my thighs and backside at 5 lbs) and my bone density (at 5 lbs) when calculating my BMI. If I used my "real weight" it would show me at a 26.5 BMI, which is considered 'over weight' (lol, uh - whatever!f) ..but when I take the logical approach and make allowances that SHOULD be made - I'm NORMAL!!!
Whod'a ever thought Id want to strive for NORMALCY in life?
Congratulations on your successful journey to health - btw, I was so disappointed NOT to have met you last Saturday in Richmond. Was really lookin' forward to it - which is NOT to discount that I enjoyed meeting Pam (who came in your place) but you know what Im trying to say, right?
