How much does PS skin removal affect your weight?
I am very curious - those of you who have had PS or who know someone who has, does the amount removed during surgery eventually show up on the scale? I had 2 lbs. removed from the BR, and 5 1/2 from the TT. I'm uncertain how the body responds. What are your experiences? By the way - the BMI has gone from 47.5 to 19.5 - THAT is such a miracle.... I am so grateful.
Thanks,
Crystal
It took about 8 weeks for the real results of my TT to show up. Besides the 6 pounds that was removed, I also lost weight because my tummy was so tight, It was like I had a baby pouch again. I lost almost 17 pounds after PS. I hope to loose about 10 more after my Thigh/Buttocks next month. But I know I will be swelled up probally for longer with that one because I'm also having lipo. Skin actually doesn't weigh that much. It's te tissue and fat that they remove where your real poundage is. I took advantage of the fact that my tummy felt small again and now I'm below goal. I'd like to get o 140 (5'6, large frame).
Jane, thank you! You lost so much! Was that 17 lbs. the total "including" the 6 lbs? Were you swollen for about 8 weeks? I really can't afford to lose much, I'm almost underweight now (which I NEVER in a million years thought I'd say!)... the surgeon said I should even try to gain a few lbs.
What are you doing with the thighs? Inner, outer, lower body? I'd like to do an inner thigh lift - so much hanging, wrinkled skin.... but after this surgery I just don't know if I can go through any more. It might take some time to get over the memory!

The 17 total includes the 6 pounds removed. It just took awhile before it showed up on the scale because of all the fluids they pump you with. The rest came off just because I was determined to get them off. I'm pretty stable now but I'd love to see 140 lbs one day, even if it's just a millisecond. With the lower trunk lift it is outer thighs and buttocks only. then in the Fall I'm having my Inner thighs done and thermage on my arms. Believe me 2007 is my year of plastics. I want it over with. My inner thighs are the worst and probally the hardest to work on. I'm doing my surgery in stages to achieve better end results and hopefully not need revisions. I'm realistic about it. I know I can only expect about 50% in the inner thighs. With the way they are now, I'd be ectastic with a 50% improvement.
As for pain, It's only been since November and I'm over it all ready. I know it's worht all the pain and aggrevation.
Jane, thanks for reassuring me I'll get over the pain soon! You sure have a lot ahead of you...... I hope everything turns out perfectly! The way I see it, it couldn't be worse... or at least I told myself that! BTW, my surgeon said the inner thigh lift is one of the most difficult surgeries, and a tough recovery - harder than either of the ones I just did. That spooks me a little...... but we'll see how things go. You know, now that I actually will have a flat tummy and the girls aren't down to my knees, I "could" wear a bikini for the first time since I was like 4 yrs. old.... but that inner thigh skin would definitely diminish the effect, and make me feel very self-conscious. I'll be very interested to hear how all your procedures go!
Take care....
