Hi Dana - thank you for your words of comfort - I am so sorry about your stillborn baby - that must have been very traumatic. We are slowly getting over it and trying to talk about it without crying..... I know it will get easier in time but I have a real pain in my heart right now... Jackie

HI Jackie, I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets are like 2 additional children to me, and I know I am going to be very upset when they pass. Our cat is 18 years old so I know that the time is coming although she seems very healthy right now. Only time can heal this type of hurt, and my heart goes out to you. , Robin

Thanks for your kind words Robin - Cody was already getting a bit blind and a lot deaf and his arthritis was starting in his hips - so 11 years was a good age for an English retriever like him. He had a good life and was very loved by our family. I miss him every single day but now can stop looking for him........ I ma hoping it gets easier to accept in time. Thanks again Jackie

Oh, Jackie, I am sooo sorry but now like you said, you now have closure. I know that doesn't help with the hurt but now you can go on. Please tell Bill that no one was to blame....it was Cody's time. At least he died instantly without having to suffer. Hugs and kisses to you all. Lots of love coming to ya...Betsy

Thanks yoi so much Betsy - I know Bill is finding it very hard to deal with right now as he does feel responsible but he is blind and could not have known that Cody was just going to walk away from him - he had done that a couple of times before but only for a few yards and came back - so Bill is just devastated..... if he had lived he was getting old and was already on arthritis medication etc so he would have started to suffer. This way he went without all the pain associated with old age - at least that is what I keep telling myself.... Thank you for your thoughts - I so appreciate them Jackie

Jackie, I am so sorry to hear about Cody! When I didn't hear anything I was afraid to make you sad by inquiring. I am an animal lover too, especially dogs and cats, I have both. Yes they are a family member and they are missed terribly! I hope after a little time you can consider bringing another pet into your family's life, they do make life even better! The new pet never replaces the one lost, but I know my family's lives are so much more enriched with them! Ann aka McLean
