Surgery in less than 2 weeks
I am looking for some support - my surgery is coming up quickly. I just found out I was approved last Thursday and am scheduled for surgery on the 23rd!
That's good because i don't have too much time to worry - but need to prepare. What should I do first? Can someone give me advice on the best protein supplements.
Thanks -- j

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! You've come to the right place for support.
As for protein, it seems to be a really personal thing. All of us have different taste buds and some of us even experience(d) a change in tastes after surgery. That said, here's what I like: Profect Protein Vials (protica.com), Power Crunch Protein Bars (lots of sites sell them as well as the Vitamin Shoppe) and Unjury Protein Powder (www.unjury.com). You can purchase samples of all of them to give them a try before you buy a bunch. I know others on here like the Nectar protein powders as well...they come in several flavors. Basically it's trial and error for a bit until you find one that works for you!
Keep us posted on your progress!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You must be very excited! Yoiu should go ahead and buy your vitamins and just a little protein so you don't have to go shopping for a few days. Your tatses may change after surgery so I would not go and buy a lot of protein in case you don't like it afterwards. So buy some protein now and taste it and see if you like it. Many of us use the test tube vials like Whey Protein By IDS or Protica etc as it is easier on our taste buds, Also Unjury unflavored is excellent for just after surgery when you can add it to liquids or chilli and some people like the chocolate flavor as a milk shake too. Just experiement a little and buy a little and see how they taste to you after surgery.
Good luck!

Julia, congrats on your surgery date. First of all try not to get too overwhelmed. I would definitely go out and purchase your vitamins and some food stuff for the first few days (if you are not going to be on a liquid diet). As for protein, I suggest getting samples of a few different kinds (www.vitalady.com, www.unjury.com) and try those the first few days until you find some you really like. Best wishes to you on you journey.
