How to get approval from tricare? Plastic surgery

Can anyone tell me how to get approval from Tricare Standard? I have a rash that comes and goes, when I run my arm**** my sides and get a rash from hitting the fabric. My stomach gets a rash and actually breaks the skin ocasionally. I would like the "whole" body done but ya never know. Thanks for any help. Ann

Ann...are you refering to getting plastics? Tricare Standard can be really funny about all that. They didn't pay for my tummy tuck when I really needed one..but they have paid for other peoples. Crazy, huh? If you get documentation in your medical records that it is needed then you might have a leg to stand on. I have just gone through a bunch of plastic surgeries and have paid out of pocket for them. I am going to try to submit the itemized bills to Tricare Standard..but I am not holding my breath. I do know that if you have documentation the the Plastic Surgery department at PNH here will do some of the surgeries there but you still have to pay a portion. My neighbor said they were going to do her arms but they wanted over 3G. She is Tricare Prime though. Good Luck... Try calling the 1-800 number and ask. I know when I looked it up online on their page it didn't look too promising for myself...But it doesn't hurt to try. Let me know how it goes !! Dana

Hey Ann, 6 months ago when I had my RNY I asked my dr. about plastics and he said that it's cheaper at PNH but not free...... They do change there policys ofter though, so who knows what they are now. I have prime so I'm not to sure about standard. Good luck, keep us updated, I would love to know how it all turns out!!
