anyone out there have aetna insurance?

hi- anyone out there have aetna insurance? i am in the process of getting approval for lap band surgery. I am submitting to aetna at the beginning of april. I have almost completed my 6mos of weigh ins and will be finished april 2nd! I just had my psych eval this past wednesday and it went great! if anyone has any advice for aetna approval it would be greatly appreciated!-- thanks! angela

Angela- I didn't have any problems with my Aetna approval. I did have to do a 3-month exercise program and go to two nutrition appointments. My surgeon had a pretty comprehensive program that they required, and that also met most insurance requirements. I only had to have a physical therepist montior my exercise program (worst part of the whole process because the guy was an absolute jerk!). They were pretty quick on the response for me....maybe 3 weeks? Best of luck to you....you'll be approved and on your way in no time! Christina S

hi angela, i have aetna and ran into a bit of trouble but most of the problem was caused by paperwork being submitted incorrectly. i heard though, that aetna will go thru and approve a bunch and then deny a bunch for silly reasons...my understanding is that if you appeal and provide what they request, you will be approved. it took about a week for my denial and then about 1-2 weeks for my appeal. i do have to say though that the aetna people were so nice and knew that i was anxious so when they found that the lady in my surgeon's office who handles the insurance was off for the day, the aetna rep actually called me herself! i was completely floored!! good luck! christine 253/157/158/134 start/current/surgeon's goal (BEAT THAT!)/my goal (COMING RIGHT UP!)
