I'm Officially a LOSER!!!!
Hi Everyone,
Well, I am home, finally! I was released from the hospital Friday morning after a very uneventful stay. My surgery went very well. In fact, Dr. Wohlgemuth said that I was the easiest that he has done to date. He finished in only 1 hour and 10 minutes because as he put it, "my insides are so beautiful!" What a hoot! He cracks me up! Anyway - I never really experienced much pain - I was walking around the floor at the hospital within a few hours of getting to my room. I was up to 6 laps around the floor before the next morning. I never felt nauseous, gaseous or anything. My nursing care was wonderful! I was definitely ready to go home on Friday, but couldn't quite get there because the renovations on my house were not complete. So I have been at my mother's house until this afternoon. I came home, showered, and went to my middle child's school play. She did a great job, but it totally exhausted me. So I have been resting most of the afternoon since then. I am concerned because I don't feel full ever, and I am not sure if I should at this point. I am making sure to get in at least 64 oz. of liquid each day and as much protein as I can, but I don't feel full. It's weird.
Anyway, I 'm not gonna sweat it - I've already lost a total of 18 pounds!!! Woohooo!!
Thanks to all of my OH friends who called, sent messages, and left wonderful posts wishing me a speedy recovery. It means so much to me to know that you guys are in my corner fighting this battle with me! Ya'll are the best!!!!
I'm feeling alittle tired still so I am going to post this on the lightweight and Virginia boards and then hit the hay for the night! Thanks again everyone!
Huge Hugs,
Robin
Yeah Robin!!! Welcome to the losing side. Sounds like you are doing everything right. It is normal to not feel the full sensation for awhile, the nerves are still healing and the pureed foods don't really have enough sustance to trigger the feeling. Just be careful, sometimes the "full feeling" changes after surgery and it isn't the same feeling you used to have and when you start the regular foods it can sneak up on you.
